Finally got results back NO CANCER!! The tissue is consistent with (don't you just love the jargon) necrotic tissue. Yeah, dead. A bad enough or long enough infection could do that. If he hasn't had a bowel movement by Monday she will teach me how to give him an enema, should he continue to have constipation issues. I have mixed some unflavored Miralax in some water. One bowl of that, one bowl of plain water. As much as it would be good to get the laxative in him, we can't take the chance he won't drink it and ends up dehydrated. I have actually counted the kibble in his bowl, I need to know if he's eating. That will be the main concern now. Which takes me back to my shock, learning his top two canine teeth, broken off at the gum line, are still there.Even with my terrible memory, I do remember looking in his mouth and the shock of seeing all four canines shattered. I remember telling the vet to extract them. That meant all four, not just two. The canal in the middle of the teeth are exposed as are some root. As I've aged, gums have receded and one time I had some root exposed, it was very painful. The fact they are broken off at gum level will make the extraction more difficult, but it could be the thing keeping him from eating. If there hasn't been infection there, which would be nearly impossible, there would be some time. Anyway, it's just so nice to be able to look forward to the future. Now that we know there will be a future.

Gerald and I are in our hotel room in Bismarck and I had to check on you and Sky. SO relieved no cancer, he sure does have his share of stuff to heal otherwise though, jeepers creepers! One thing at a time, just like you know how to do and you and Sky ARE making progress, but yeah, it's painfully slow, but here's a little ooh and ahhh for you

I've got to do a better job of looking at teeth, get firm. Jess opened his mouth right up, it was easy to see the jagged shards sticking up from where the top two had shattered. They are very small, but I could see them without straining. Looked farther back and the gums weren't just inflamed, there are little sores below some of the teeth. I'm wondering if drinking was uncomfortable, at least, and maybe that explains the constipation. This could be that giant missing puzzle piece. Not that it was that hard to see. I had asked the first vet about his teeth way back toward the beginning of all this. She glanced and said they needed cleaning, but they weren't bad enough to be involved in the problems. Really. I asked Jess to take pictures and save the teeth for me.

The waiting is on. As long as there were no emergencies come into the clinic, Sky should be in surgery. Pray that he is handling the anesthesia and this will be the end!

The surgery couldn't have gone smoother. He was resting, alert, recovering well. He went to sleep and stopped breathing. They immediately tried to resuscitate, but he was just gone. The only thing that fits is that he threw a clot.

I'm so sad to read this. He was loved and well cared for by you to the very end and it sounds like he went very peacefully. I will be praying for comfort for you.
