He is still peeing on his own, just enough. So far so good, keep getting stronger! I want him home, yet that thought terrifies me. I will be so paranoid.
At this moment my brain function just isn't working. This needs it's own thread. I am grateful we have a place I can bring a thread from a different site, I just can't go through the whole thing again. Just shoot me, please.

glad he is peeing even if it is just a little.. i would bring him home , and see how he does. i am sure you can take care of him there and if there is a situation you can always bring him back. and do not forget it is a long weekend. and perhaps there is not that many people working in the vets office .

Sky came home today! I've seen him pee several times, smallish clumps but definitely enough to count.

hl4l, I hope you never have to go through this kind of thing and learn what the "right" words are. According to the vet it's not nearly as uncommon as I wish. But, it is something anyone who has a cat, or dog should be aware of. A blockage makes it so the animal cannot urinate. The urine and all the toxins therein back up into the kidneys and into the bloodstream. It can be fatal in as little as 48 hours. I appreciate all the good wishes, prayers, positive thoughts, etc. Now I have to find a ur food he'll eat.

Try putting a little hot water in it to bring the smells out, let it cool to warm then offer, this usually works:)

Still not eating. Hot water, microwave, the Friskies canned he got before, Fancy Feast- Gravy Lovers, Delights, Appetizers, and the new Creamy Broth. He licked at the Appetizers (first of the Fancy Feasts) got some chicken shreds, seemed chewy, turned his head to the side, finished that bite and quit. Will sniff at then turn his head away. I have now syringed gravy from the food into his mouth. I so hoped the taste would inspire him, but it's a struggle. He's getting Baytril and prednisolone. Any suggestions? I will call the vet in the am, although the bill already topping $1,000. makes me feel sick. I need to check his teeth.
Oh, I've even offered him a couple kinds of kibble, I'm desperate!! He won't even try.

Our animals sure know how to rock our world. and when they refuse to eat , boy i just wanna scream. i make boiled chicken livers for them when they are sick. and i grind them in the magic bullet and make sure there is plenty of broth for it not to be dry. try that. perhaps the prednisone is causing him not to be hungry?? i know when hubby was on it for a while he just did not feel like eating. i think as long as he is getting his liquids and is urinating than he just needs time. and do not give fish. i wonder if you have well water or city water and if well water might be the culprit causing the crystals. ??

I think you eill have to paste some up and syringe it in if hes being that difficult, after a couple of days of force feeding he may start eating on his own, I had a cat in the kennels that refused to eat or drink and I had to syringe feed it, I managed to get it eating and drinking on its own after 4 days, it was not pleasant for me I hardly slept the whole time it stayed with me and I did tell them it would be best if they got someone to watch it at home next time!
May be worth trying a raw diet as in a bought one, Tailblazers here has some real good stuff, it has a picture of a blue dog and red cat I think on the packs, they come in small packs and different flavours like kangaroo, bison etc, if you can jump start him it might get him eating the stuff he should be, cats are picky though, Im so sorry you are having this problem, I know how stressful it is:(

How is Sky this morning? I'm sorry I'm no help with the eating department. Is he drinking? I think I would be more worried if he wasn't drinking, especially since the issue is with his kidneys. I don't suppose the vet sent you home with fluids to administer subcutaneously if necessary?
Come on Sky, your mommy is worried about you and needs you to eat so you can feel better. You can do it! smileys-cats-959899
Still praying for you and Sky.

Sky is at the clinic, hooked up to an IV. I had pinched his skin and knew he was dehydrated. I ha seen him drink and pee, but the drinking just wasn't enough. He had reblocked there, after being there over a week. Could it still be my water? I really want to make changes if that could be an issue. I have a well, and a water softener and osmosses (sp) water purifier. Any time I fill a water bowl it is from the purifier, no not upstairs. Okay, that gets changed. The blood tests reveled a very high white blood cell count, there is infection somewhere. Vet said maybe from having been catheterized multiple times. I have been stressing for them to get nutrients into him. I know there is more going on, but how can he heal with any food in him? Does anyone know if IV fluids are more than just water? Any nutrients? It hurt so bad to see him laying there with a tube running from his leg. He never looked up, so depressed. I'm really getting scared.

Most fluids are actually saline, not water (primary choices are lactated ringers solution or 0.9% Saline). So they are osmotically balanced with ions (sodium and chloride) but no actual nutrients.
He is acting depressed because he is dehydrated and not feeling well, just like when you first brought him in. As he becomes more hydrated, I bet he perks up a bit.
What does the vet have to say now about potential surgery?

I for sure would not use well water, I dont, I use water from our water bottle dispenser or the city water I get delivered for the kennel, I doubt thats your problem but why take a chance?
He will get better once hes hydrated, cats are just way more difficult to treat than dogs as they hide everything so well, its so frustrating, the vet should have a special can food for recovering cats, I know 2 of mine that would eat nothing ate that stuff with gusto, it stinks but is high in everything they need for a fast recovery
