Fingers crossed, don't cry too much if he leaves :) He is going in a good home. I'll try:( i woke up early this morning and started thinking about him and how him and Ira have been together since birth, I took Isis out to brush him yesterday and ira was whickering and acting like he hadn't seen him for years after just a half hour, made me feel a bit guilty then about splitting them up. its one of these decisions that I know is for the best but isn't easy, if I did keep him I doubt I'd ride him much if ever again, I've already mentally committed myself to spending a lot of time with Ira, it's disgusting how little I've rideen that horse in the past 2 years, all because I've been spending so much time with Isis which I haven't even mostly enjoyed, I feel horrid even saying that, I do have a weird feeling he will come back though, hopefully I'm wrong!

LD, just remember, horses are our hobbies which are supposed to be fun and something we enjoy. If it becomes something that you dread, something needs to change. I think in the right hands, Isis will be a great horse for someone. Someone who has more time and maybe can bounce if they fall off. :-)
Ira will be ok, he has Dax to keep him company. I know it's a hard decision but I think you will make the right one for everyone involved.

So I rode Isis this morning, I used a different bit and saddle as I'd already changed the bit over last time and was too lazy to change it back, not the best scenario eh lol?!!!!
He stood real good to saddle, especially considering I haven't ridden in that saddle before and discovered it's set up with straps on bkth sides so I was fannying around a lot and getting cranky, I got on, realized stirrups were too long, got off, adjusted, tightened cinch again then off wee went, he was a bit cranky, swishing his tail, being a dick, he settled after a few minutes, prob just the changes in tack, I know, bad idea!....anyway I only rode him 10 minutes, I took him to driveway end, he saw a car, didn't t care then stopped dead in the road and wouldn't move, I called him a effing re...you know what, slapped him and off he went, idiot, anyway rode back to field, I was done, good enough, I was just worried he would bronco her off!
Hopefully he behaves tomorrow:)

I hope he does well tomorrow. Can you ride Dax and go on a bit of a ride with her or are you just going to let her ride in the pasture?

I'll just let her go on her own, I've always ridden them alone so not sure how it would go. She can't go on road, it's too busy, I had Dax out today who is great with traffic, there were diggers 5 ft from us digging, drilling and one lifted a pallet up right next to us, Dax jumped, a foreman standing to our left apologized but I wasn't worried, told him it was ok for this pony, who is more worried about your signs than diggers and wagons pulling stuff, he is the best in traffic, just wish he'd get over the sign thing, if she took Isis out there I'd never see either of them again lol!

Ld why dont you lounge him a bit before ste came? That way you will worm him up and prepare him to listen and to be relaxed. Just a thought. Sigh, I wish I could do this, my land is awful though, I have no where flat or good footing, it's all hills, boulders, bush, it's great for the horses grazing as it keeps the horses fitter going up and down hills and grazing on slopes but not for schooling on, I had a guy come level a 60ft round area for me but he did a crap job and it's all collapsed, I have someone coming in the next couple weeks to hopefully fix it up and make it bigger:) Im hoping as he's free they won't spend too much time with him, they'd be better taking him, doing groundwork and having a months trial or two working with him, it's not like they are buying him, my client knows me and knows all about him, it's not like he's sick or lame and they can bring him back if he doesn't work out for them but I'm sure after a bit of work he will be just fine:) Suppose what happens happens, if they don't take him I'll take him to the trainer close to me, get an assessment on him, he does training rides, not cheap but maybe he can give me some tips, although I'm seriously thinking if he doesn't go I'm either going to just retire him or wait till we have deep snow and really ride him hard doing everything he hates so if I fall off I'll be cushioned!

Isis is gone, they didn't ride him, he was twitching and acting stupid with the woman but loved her son, he sniffed him and blew in his face, he is to be her sons horse, he's just 14 years old so young and brave and bounces!.....Isis was a good boy to load, one poop a sniff and jumped right in:)
Yes I cried, I'll miss him but I know it's best for both of us.
Ira and Dax are still screaming and looking for him, guess they will settle in a day or so.
I rode Dax after they left and my client spied on Ira while I was gone, he shouted a lot but no silliness, she said the dogs prob help him behave as its not like he's completely alone, I hadn't thought of that, the dogs came out and barked at him, good to know he will be ok, Dax will be fine, sometimes I lock him in paddock alone anyway, I snuck round corner on Dax when I came back, Ira was screaming but just standing resting a back leg lol!
I'm sure in a few days we will all be fine:)
Hope he does well with them, they are really nice and used to dealing with horses like him, they like horses like him, he's not gone too far from me, couple of hours, my client said she will take me to visit and we can go riding once he's settled:)

Lol!...I told him tonight on the phone, he was ok, he's ok with anything I say or do right now! Ira and Dax were standing at the gate tonight waiting, they never do that, I guess while they won't forget him they will get over him in time, I'm planning to ride Ira tomorrow:)

change makes us cry. and especially when it comes to the horses. as each day goes by it will get easier. he will not be out of your head and heart. and at least he is close by and you can visit and keep tabs on him. and perhaps the 14 year old is just what isis needs.

HL, My farrier has said for months he needs a teenager that will ride him every day and laugh when he acts up, she's right, that's what I used to be, so he has now found his perfect match!

So just an update on Isis, another will follow soon!
He has just came back into working april, he was doing ok but she decided just to see what he would do if she slipped her feet out the stirrups like I did, well he bucked her off 3 times doing this so.......hes been in the mountains, the one smilie goes to, yaha or something like that with the girls father this past week, no phone signal up there so no idea how hes doing but should find out in another week!.....she said her father has taken him to go hunting, wish I could be around to see the first time he sees a cougar or bear or he shoots the gun, obviously theres lots of other horses there so hopefuly he will take the lead and confidence from them, hopefuly he comes back!....only kidding, she loves him to pieces, luckily!
