So took Rambo to get neutered today, they can't do it, he has a heart murmur, bad enough that they advise against surgery, ever:(

oh poor baby. But what are you going to do with an unneutered male cat? Do you have any unspayed cats? Perhaps he can just live inside?

I still have the unsourced female but I have one person definately wanting her and one possible, the def wanting her though is not my ideal home but of push comes to shove ill spay her and keep her, she would make an awesome barn cat for my new place, she's very sweet and nervous so careful, she survived as an underweight kitten for god knows how long! Rambo will always be a house cat anyway, hubby wont be happy short term but soon he won't give a toss anyway!

He is a cute cat. wonder if he can or will outgrow that murmur. and if they can neuter with tranq like they do horses instead of with anesthesa ?? might be worth asking your vet or someone else.

Well when I went to get him the vet said we could do it with just a bit if numbing, so I said yes, but guess what, he's got one still up inside, vet says its so far in he's 100% sure it ain't coming down! not having much luck with him! I had an X-ray done! his heart is normal sized and lungs no clouding which is good. He does pant a lot when he starts running around and he breathes congested slightly at times, he's such a sweet cat, I'm thinking he's going to be big, I will have to cancel pet insurance, they don't cover un neutered pets:(

But you would only have to cancel insurance on Rambo right? Yes, I've ordered a stethoscope for him, I have to keep listening to his lungs, didn't realise how cheap they are!

He is such a doll, and his eyes are so expressive. His facial markings are beautiful. Also, I love the way you used the word knackered. I know what it means, I just don't think I have ever seen it typed out before.

My parents are British and I grew up saying knackered. The first time I said it to my hubby he gave me this look like "What the he11 did you just say?" LOL
Our Merlin has similar markings to Rambo, and has the same spider-leg whiskers. Doesn't have quite the awesome ear-hair that Rambo has though!

Shadow lark yes I don't now why he has such long ear hair, don't know much about him really, hubby is useless at closing doors behind him, even if I say remember to close that door he forgets and I'm up and down after him all night, Rambo has a thing for ear plugs and has already ate and puked up a few, I worry he will need an op which can't happen so I have to watch him carefuly hubby is useless almost like he doesn't give a crap:(

Uh oh, I think Rambo has started spraying, I smelled a really strong cat pee odour at top of stairs, got down on my knees and yes for sure it smells bad of cat pee, now trying to get rid of it before hubby comes home, not easy, now all I can smell anywhere is cat pee, I have polluted my nose with it now.........he's treading on a thin line, while typing this he just jumped on the bird cage again, grrr, he knows if he can't get at it from one point as I have the scatt spray there he can get it from the other side, he ran right to his room after he fell off, it's huge and he can't get them but they do scatter.
I can't have him outside due to his heart issue, i guess I have 2 choices as no one wants a spraying male Tom cat, I either chance the operation(vet said he would if it was his cat as he hates cat pee smell too) or just keep him as a kennel cat, he likes to socialize so would like that, it's a shame as the dogs and even hubby really like him, sigh:(
I better decide soon, the testosterone takes 6 months after op to disperse and that's if it even stops them although usually it does, fingers crossed, I'm seriously leaning towards chancing the op, I trust my vet and want him to stay a house cat.

I think I would chance the operation too and soon. I thought that once they started spraying, they would continue even if they get fixed? I could be wrong about that though.

I'm going to pop in with him Friday, I just called them, I haven't seen him panting in a while too so that's good, sometimes his breathing is a little whistley but haven't even noticed that recently now I think about it. Yes, sometimes they still do BUT usually only if there are other underlying problems, I think I do have to take a chance on this, man it stinks bad, even when he uses his box and I have that good odour catch litter it still smells bad a good 1/2 hour after I've cleaned it out! Apparently one of my clients dogs had one too and it vanished when she reached 8 months old, I think Rambo is 10 months right now.

Ugh, just went to let my dogs out and noticed Rambo has peed in one of their beds, I'll have to chuck it out, it stinks, thankfully it was an old one.
