I've decided to go to WW every 3 weeks, because it is discouraging for me to hear loss in the .2 here, .4 there range. I am still doing pretty well with a slip now and then. So far 8 pounds.
Mistersmom - sad to say there are no really great snacks, but I've been having homemade applesauce with a some fatfree cool whip on top. Otherwise, it's fruit, dried bananas, sometimes veggies with a little butter. I try not to do processed "diet" snacks. Being I am cutting way down on carbs, sometimes I have a slice of homemade bread for snack as a treat.
Still plugging away, although not as happy about it coffee

I figured I REALLY need to stay motivated when its so easy to just give up. So I promised that if I don't lose weight every week (starting this week) I owe our change jar $5. My downfall are crackers and cookies. Even fruit can provide me enough easily digestible carbs that slow down my weight loss. I have to focus on veggies. I can't eat any kind of diary, so finding a dip that tastes good is a challenge. Tofu only goes so far but I pretend it tastes good

I can't eat dairy without Lactaid and that doesn't always help, especially sour cream or cream cheese *sigh* If you mix tofu with lemon juice you get a fair substitute for sour cream. I can eat veggies plain, sure, but it can be boring day after day after day. The creamy type salad dressings are based on sour cream and I think the non creamy type salad dressings are kinda icky for dips. Oh I hear you about rolls. Yes, yes, yes Fresh bagels too! I can eat three of them right in a row no problem. That would be the equivalent of a day's worth of calories!! I've heard that the hypothesis put forth in the "Carbohydrate Addict" is not fully substantiated, maybe it is, but the premise seems to ring true for me. If I eat just two slices of bread during the day and nothing more my weight loss will fall to nothing. Its so sad! BUT if I don't eat any starch until supper, I can eat way more than that and still lose weight. Now, according the the Carbohydrate Addict, I ought to also forgo fruits and starchy veggies like peas and corn, etc. but that's asking an awful lot so I will eat oranges and apples during the day. This seems to be working for me and it did work for me in the past. I haven't been on a scale to see how much I've lost but my pants are looser and my side chubbies are smaller. I still have a looooooong way to go but I just HAVE to do this for myself!

I splurged and ate 2 doughnuts Saturday morning. I LOVE doughnuts but haven't had any in a very long time. I did go home and then unload 30 bales of hay by myself so hopefully I burned off some of those very yummy empty calories!
I love bread too as well as most kinds of sweets. I haven't seen very much in the way of weight loss but looking to join a gym in the next month or two (may wait for the new year when they run specials). Hopefully doing more than my daily walks will help. Currently I walk 5-6 days a week usually about 2.5 - 3 miles each day but I don't think that is helping me much any more. So frustrated.

I'm like you horse lady, I do good then I get swayed by quick snack items after working outside and not having the energy to cook or make something healthy and boom on it goes again and I feel like a pig! i was looking to lose 10lbs but have been awful recently and packed it on and now need/want to lose 15lbs my problem is I love food, hmm! Im going to make some carrot and lentil soup today in the slow cooker, I love home made soup, if I spend 2 weeks on soup and salad with shrimp and chicken then I usually lose it fast but excuse me it makes me fart something rotten and sometimes gives me burny bum, tmi? hmmm

Actually it may be the other way around! I love to make veggie and fruit smoothies and learned the hard way that I have to be VERY careful when adding sesame seeds or chia seeds. They make the drinks creamier and oh so much more nutritious but... This was my first full week where I told myself that if I don't lose weight I have to pay our vacation jar $5. I don't know about you but that's a lot of money for me, so its very helpful. The trouble is, if I do well, then I think "Oh I can cheat" and that is the most slippery of all slopes.

I'm thinking your jar is a good idea, I might make a cheat jar, every time I eat outside my allowance I have to put something in it and maybe every time I exercise I can take it back out, now you got me thinking:)

We are having a Thanksgiving potluck lunch at work today - I am going to be a good girl and maybe just eat a piece of turkey - no sides, no desserts (although they always look so awesome). I just don't think these calories are worth it. I will wait for Thanksgiving with my family to splurge a little!
I like the jar idea! Especially the exercise = money OUT of the jar and in my pocket!

Yeh right Horselady, keep telling yourself that;)
I think I might have finally realised how I absolutely have to lose weight, don't think bad of me but I laughed at the porky pole dancer clip on Americas got talent or something that someone sent me, well last night I was getting in the shower I caught sight of my back, butt and thighs in the mirror as hubby had left cabinet mirror doors open and in all honestly I'm almost looking like a porky sausage:(
Today in am going to do something about it:)

The wireless internet I was scamming off of one of my neighbors disappeared a few weeks ago, I'm sitting in the library now; I guess I'll get my own internet now LOL
Well, last week I lost the weight I had gained the week before (-$5) and a half of a pound more, so I am relieved. Not exactly happy but better than sad. So I had to get my head out of my you-know-what and get serious. I bought a yoga mat and then realized I should of bought a stall mat *doh* and brought out my little free weights. I do aerobics every morning carrying my 2 lb weights and then do stretches and more strength stuff with the 5lbs. I don't do this for very long but I do it and that's what's important. And I actually feel better while I'm exercising so that's incentive too or at least its not a disincentive which is true for the really hard exercises for 45 minutes until you want to cry even though that might get me results sooner.
Shoveling is good exercise too, but somehow that just seems like a chore LOL

This past Saturday was the first week I haven't had to pay money into the jar in 3 weeks! Its been horrible; try as I might something always "gets" me. I have to employ so much self talk that its a good thing I'm alone alot or someone would have me committed. I even have to self talk to keep my talking to my "inside my head" voice, for pete's sake... I say that being functional is almost as good as being healthy... right? Right?!!!!
