I'm so glad you are both home safe and sound and Belle seems to be settling in well. I also would not be surprised if she starts to shed out more and more white as the years go on. A friend had a horse who did that. Picked a filly up at an auction with no history, just figured it was some grade QH (abundant around here) Slowly but surely she shed out a little more white every year and ended up being a lovely varnish when it was all said and done. Seems to me the most dramatic change for my friends filly was between her 3 and 4 year old year.

She is such a cutie! She seems like she had a kind but almost fearful look in the one picture. I'm sure you're relieved to finally have your baby girl home <3

Time has been flying way too fast! So overdue an update! Belle is doing really well. She feels at home enough that we are now working on pushiness. She likes to be in my personal space. I am careful because she reacts too strongly to quick hand movements. I use my voice and whole body to back her off. I finally got around to using my horse measuring stick on her and she is 13.2 hands, not 14. I am absolutely fine with that! She's only 19 months old and I prefer small anyway. I let the girls; Cheyenne, Belle, Luvy ; well there is one boy, Luvy's companion, Beau. Poor Cayenne was not happy being left out, but since he's mounted both Luvy and Cheyenne, I don't trust him. I wish I had been thinking and had the camera with me at the beginning. I did go get it, but the main running was done. I just wanted to show how both Cheyenne and Belle flag their tails. I had to shoo them to run and then you have to look closely as they run toward the trees. I also need to be careful keeping the camera level, I hadn't intended to video the trees. <embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf" flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvid251.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fgg315%2Fsuebarwebb%2FHorses%2FBelle%2FNov%252029%25202014%2520005_zpsxg0iitfq.mp4&title="> They will, both, flip their tails up over their backs. Arabians have been used in both Appaloosa and POA's, so I guess that must be showing through.

What a kind eye she has. How's she doing now that she has settled in? Around other horses she is easily dominated. But, oh my is she pushy otherwise. She is one of those who has to be involved in everything, even if she has to leave her hay to do it. She seems to think I need her help. smart horse I'm working on "my personal space" while trying to not stop her from being curious and unafraid. Yesterday, when I was taking down empty hay nets and putting up full ones, I tossed an empty hay net over her back. She didn't even wince, just turned her head to sniff it then go back to the fresh hay.

One of these days I want to make it over your way and meet Belle in person. It will still be awhile, but one day, I will actually get a day off, and I will make that trip.

Horses have lots of personalities; serious, not touchy feely; docile and easy going; in-your-pocket to downright under foot; up to the ones that steal brushes and tools and know how to open gates. Thinking about some of the multiple personalities, makes me think of cats! sun

Uh.... You know I am a big chicken, and it absolutely terrifies me to be the responsible driver when hauling one of my beautiful babies, Right? I would rather ride in the trailer while someone else does the driving.

Growing up I went to tons of fun shows, Mom driving. Mom was just doing it because she loves me. As soon as I was capable, it was up to me. It was either drive or stay home. Now the drive back from Oklahoma, with Belle, ended up harder than expected. Getting turned around and lost. wag finger I hate making long trips, even just by myself. But, if I didn't make myself do it, I wouldn't have her back. Shoot, I wouldn't have any horses. Considering the number of things that can happen, such as emergencies, I think I'd be more afraid to not be able to drive. I hope you can find a way to work on that, for your own peace of mind. What I will be working on this year, is having more than one horse that can be ridden. .
