I'm so excited, I booked a cruise for the end of July! It's a 5 day cruise visiting Cozumel (which I have been to about 3 times now) and Progresso (Merida). Best part - I am going alone! I need a vacation and looking at hotel prices, the cruise was the best deal. Plus I love cruises. As usual, I have booked for the middle of hurricane season but I've been lucky so far with regards to hurricanes and previous cruises. My son is going to kill me when he finds out - he loves cruises too. I will just have to take him on one maybe next year.
I am thinking about doing the horseback riding in Cozumel. I haven't done it before because I was doing things my son would like to do better. Progresso has very few things to do unless you like shopping. I will probably just go to a beach and hang out in the sand and water for the day there. I have heard the water there is not as pretty as other places, it is the Gulf of Mexico for goodness sakes, not an ocean. I have plenty time to think about that anyway.
So the countdown begins...31 days.

Oh sounds like fun:)
Hurricane season is much cheaper and mostly one gets lucky, we only had bad luck once!
I've never been on a cruise though, I am not a boat lover, I have titanic visions lol!....I don't mind a couple hours on a catmaran but I doubt I could sleep on a boat incase it hit an iceberg or got boarded by pirates or something, I'm such an idiot sometimes lol!

What a great fun idea for you , and alone is a good thing, just do what you want when you want, and make new friends on the boat. i can not do boats. just taking the ferry from new york city to ellies island and statue of liberty was a challenge. and riding in the mexican wilderness is loads of fun.

How exciting! Good for you! You're brave, I'd never go anywhere alone. I once rode a horse on the Washington coast on the beach. I loved it.

Now I am double excited. I decided that since I will be getting home from the cruise early Thursday morning, I am going to take my son and a friend of his to my college alma mater - Ole Miss. This will also be almost a home coming for him as he was born there and spent the first 5 years of his life in this town. I'm hoping this will be the little kick he needs to buckle down this school year. He is a coming junior in high school this year.
My mom will be coming with us. When I had Shane and then shortly after got divorced, she moved up to Oxford to help me with Shane while I was in college (during this time I got my Bachelor's and Master's degrees). I'm hoping my mom will be able to relax some as she has been taking care of my grandparents and is quite stressed with their situation.
So cruise from July 26-31 and then Oxford July 31 - August 3! Two trips in one vacation for me.

I went clothes shopping today for my trip. I don't really like to shop for clothes which I guess is why I needed to go. I spent about $250 but got a good amount of clothes, everything I bought was on sale (I never pay full price for clothes). Let see I got: pair of new jeans, 2 skirts, 4 tank tops, one pair shorts, one one-piece swimsuit, 2 tank swimsuit tops, and 2 pairs swimsuit skirts. I will be bringing back one of the swimsuit skirts and probably one of the skirts. The most expensive thing was the one-piece swimsuit - it was originally $90, I got it for $36 (very expensive in my mind but I did really like it). Now all I need to pick up is an inexpensive watch at Wal-Mart this week.
This trip is really sneaking up on me but I am starting to get really excited.

Well I'm home and just about caught up on everything. Sometimes taking a vacation doesn't seem worth it with all the work you do to prepare and then all the work you come back too.
I am working on getting my pictures uploaded, maybe tonight I can get to it.
The cruise was a lot of fun and very relaxing. Unfortunately they canceled the horseback riding in Cozumel as not enough people signed up. So I ended up going on an "all-inclusive" beach excursion and sea lion show in Cozumel. It was a lot of fun, we had two great guides which made things even better. We went snorkeling and walking through botanical gardens and had a lesson on the different types of tequila, free food and drinks. I wanted to go kayaking but couldn't find where to get the life vests and it was kind of choppy water anyway. And the sea lion show was basic but good.
The next day was spent doing another "all-inclusive" beach excursion in Progresso (about 25 miles north of Merida on the gulf of mexico side of the yucatan pennisula). It was nice as well - free food and drinks, beautiful beaches. The water here was green rather than the blue of Cozumel.
So I will get pictures up soon, I promise!
