We had another interesting happening tonight. As soon as I got up from my chair Heidi jumped into it and started rolling, and rubbing around. She sees the other cats jump up into my lap, and she has come near to observe. Close, but just out of reach. I think this might be one more brave step toward seeking affection. Sort of trying out the lap without actually having to make contact. This is just so much fun.

Ooh, she's liking your scent now too then, you should put a sweatshirt or t shirt close to or on her bed, Rambo loves laying in my clothes once I take them off:)

I haven't updated about Heidi in awhile, so I thought I would post about where we are at, as far as becoming a house cat, now. She is still pretty standoffish, as far as I am concerned, but I do think we have established a little bit of trust. She will allow me to approach the chair she is sitting in, and touch her front feet. She still takes my hand, or a finger into her mouth, but I have learned to trust that she won't bite down. I am allowed to scratch her under her chin, and along the sides of her face, but she prefers if I don't have my hand above her.
Tonight she jumped into my chair, when I went out to get more wood for the fire. Once I put wood on the fire, I walked up to my chair. She laid her head sideways on the seat (her way of telling me "it's ok to pet the chair") I did as "I think" I was instructed, and stroked the chair, then ran my finger down her front foot. She took my finger into her mouth while I scratched her under her chin. Then as usual, Morris hopped into the chair, demanding his share of the attention. I stroked him all the way down his back, then I (oh shudder) stroked her down her back. Well her eyes sort of flew open, but she didn't threaten to bite. She just, sort of, gave me a look that said, I would prefer if you didn't do that again, right now.
She looks so good. She has really filled out, and now that she doesn't have worms, and has a good diet, she has become such a beautiful girl. Although my lap is usually full of her son, Morris, she is coming around. We still have plenty of time. She has until September, before she needs her next round of kitty shots. We have until them to establish a little more trust.

I am sorry, I don't have any new pictures at the moment, but I will put that at the top of my list of things to get done right away. She is so pretty, all fat and sassy, and Morris is huge. Yes, I will get to work on it right away.

Hey, I'm not judging! I've been horrible about updating and getting pics of Belle. Winter always gives me the blues and I get very little done, sorry.

I totally understand about the blues. I am blaming it on menopause. Thank goodness we have cats to get us through these tough times. There is nothing like a warm fuzzy cuddle, and purrrrr, to cheer a person up.

The picture isn't very good, sorry. Heidi had just jumped into t he chair I had just vacated. Often, when I get up Heidi will jump into the chair I just got out of and lay on the spot where I was just sitting. I think it is sort of her way to sit in my lap, without actually having to sit in my lap. I thought I would see if she would let me pet her again, so I tried it. This is the first time she has allowed me to stand over and pet her from above. I spied my phone, and I thought Oooh Picture. That was a little much for this stage in our friendship development so she took off. The picture is a little blurry, and she has a concerned look on her face, but baby steps. Right?

Awww, thank you MM. I don't really mind if Heidi never becomes a super friendly cat. I mean, I would love it if she did, but if not,,, I will survive. I need her to get friendly enough, that I can get her to the vet for her yearly appointments, without having to set a trap for her. She is such a pretty girl, and I love the progress we have made. Maybe someday she will try out my lap, with me still sitting in the chair.

Because we have finally crossed the line, and Heidi is letting me touch her a little more, I approach her every chance I get, to give her a soft scratch. A few minutes ago, Heidi was sitting on a kitchen chair, partially slid under the table. I asked, and she allowed me to scratch her on the side of her neck. She purrrrred. She actually purred. Wow!!! How exciting. smileys-party-370729

I bought a small carrier to take Abby to the vet, when she needs to have her beak trimmed. I was trying to put it together, but it took twice as long, because I had help, from Morris.

Well it doesn't look like you will have trouble taking Morris to the v-e-t. Purring is a definite large step forward!

Ha ha MM, the last time I took the kittens to the vet, I didn't have a problem getting the first kitten in the carrier, but when I tried to insert the second kitten, the first one popped out. I don't know how many times I had to put them in the carrier, until I had them both inside and the door shut. I was almost ready to just take them one at a time.
I can't tell you how much fun I am having with Heidi and her babies. Sometimes, I almost think DARN, I should have kept all of her kittens, then I go clean the litter boxed and realize how glad I am, that I only have 5 of the little poopers.
