I bet it was the spiders. That first one is kinda up close and personal. Startled me! Briefly .

LOL, I'm sure it was the spiders! So glad to hear a great update about Heidi. How about some pics of the babies? You kept two right? Morris and.....?
Oh, or was that Morris in the anti-anxiety video? He's gotten so big if it was.

Yup that's Morris. He is only 6 months old. I don't know how big he will get. Both kittens are now, a little bigger then their Mom. I guess it is because they have had good food rather than mice, to eat. Or maybe it is because they were wormed, and have had their shots. What ever the reason, they are both healthy, happy and strong. I will have to replace all my curtains once they are older and have stopped swinging from them.

I have honestly always has arachnophobia, but I seem to be able to handle better, especially when I take pictures of them. Of course I am standing about 5 feet away and using the telephoto zoom to see them better.

Spiders are always better at a distance.

Heidi had been different today. She has been out and about during the day, and right now she and Hanna are lounging on the sofa, rather than under it. I feel bad that I am going to throw a crimp into her world, tomorrow, when I remove the kittens for their trip to the V.E.T. I imagine we will take a step backward, with the interruption to her life, but it is a necessary interruption. We can't have any more kittens, and I have learned my lesson in that respect.
We still have time. She has her whole life to be what ever she wants to be.

Oh yes, spell the a.n.i.m.a.l. d.o.c.t.o.r. word on a forum so the kitties are unsuspecting

I'm sure she will be ok. She may hide while they are gone but I bet once they are back, she will start coming out of her shell again. How long will the kittens be "there"? usually it is only overnight.

I can get the kitties back tomorrow after work. Heidi has been moving around, through the house his morning. I think she is looking for her babies. She doesn't really like our other two cats. They get along, but she doesn't want to interact with them. I think everyone will be happy once the little curtain climbers are home, except for the curtains.

I just thought I would send a quick update.
Heidi
She is getting friendlier, and can be seen upstairs just about any time of the day, but night is still her best time.
Heidi up close
She will play with my hand a bit. She really doesn't want me to pet her yet, but that's ok, because I really don't want her to bite me.
Hanna, and Morris (close kitties) and Heidi (far)
She loves to play with her kittens, and they are, at 7 months, a little bigger than she is. They have all been fixed, and have had all their shots, so now we all will just have fun together, and learn to trust.

I couldn't believe how close you got to Heidi to take those pictures! She is getting braver. How did she so without the kittens there when they were....you know where?
I have that same cat tunnel but mine don't really use it. Do yours?

Its so funny how flat your cats are all laid out like that. They look like small area rugs. OK I suppose that's odd...

I couldn't believe how close you got to Heidi to take those pictures! She is getting braver. How did she so without the kittens there when they were....you know where? I have that same cat tunnel but mine don't really use it. Do yours? The cat tunnel is so much fun. One cat will be trying to hide inside, then another cat will jump through the hole in the top to pounce them. It is so crackly that no one can really hide in it. Crackle, crackle, crackle, and they all know. I also have boxes behind the sofa for hiding and pouncing, and carpeted kitty trees for climbing, and scratchinng. The poor babies have to stay inside, so I try to give them things to mimic a full kitty life outside. We have climbing stuff, and hiding stuff, and of course the usual furniture, to play and shed fur on. I used to put small starter sticks in the hollow log we have on the mantle, but the kittens like to get in it and wait for the unsuspecting to walk by, then pounce.
Every day is a new day with Heidi. She is still very much a feral cat, but I don't think she would leave the house, even if the door was left open. She is adjusting to a life without predators, and I think she likes it. She makes me feel so useful. I like it.
, I had to laugh at the "area rugs." I get up at 05:00, and I can't see in the dark. I have learned, that I must shuffle my feet, and risk shuffling into a sticker stuck in the carpet, to avoid stepping on a living rug.
I think we try to give a lot to our beloved pets, but that, in no way matches, what they do for us. JMO, but people who share their lives and love with animals are healthier, and happier than people who don't. Where else, but with an animal, can you truly get, unconditional love?

They just look great! Having Heidi coming along so well must lighten up your heart. Heidi is my mustang, and she does make my heart soar. I do realize I haven't done any spectacular training with her, but I have, kind of, studied her language. Just like with horses, body language is much of the way cats speak to each other. They are very animated with their body language. Heidi, because she had never tried to communicate with humans, speaks honest cat. She closes her eyes to communicate, trust. If she lays on her belly, with her feet under her, and her tail wrapped around her, toward me, means distrust. Eyes wide, is distrust. She will still display distrust if I get up, and startle her, but for the most part, as long as I am paying attention, she is pretty relaxed. she will lay on her side, with her belly toward me. She even purrs a little bit, when I lay on the floor close to her. She still slinks around, rather than walk out in the open, but one day she will realize she is safe, and come out of her shell even more. She is even ok with Buster now. She understands he isn't a threat, just annoying. smileys-dogs-171634
