You are so busy, always seeing to it that those little horses have comforts of home. of course photos showing your progress will be greatly appreciated. lol I had to square, plumb and level the posts and bottom boards on my hands and knees. To get back on my feet I crawled to the lawn mower and used the hood and tires to get up. I can get most of the rest standing or on a step ladder. I might have to call on one of the Great Grand kids to nail the roof.

I think you need to call one or two or three of the grandkids to come help. you should not do all this work that takes two or three people by yourself. i give you all the credit in the world and i and hubby are just as stubborn as you BUT there comes a time when we need to call them.

Yes, call in the youngins when a ladder needs to be involved (LOL, do as I say, not as I do!).
By the way, I LOVE all your tractors. I would be a tractor hoarder if I weren't careful.

I am as far as I can go without sawing. I have all the rafters marked ready to saw. To close to chore time to drag out electric cords. I will need to saw the two outside rafters I nailed up for angle dimensions. Another evening and I will be ready to cover it with plywood. The other two I built in one day. I really don't have a good half of a day in actual time so far as long as I don't count rest time for the old man thing.

I lack four pole barn nails and then it is ready for plywood. I tied thunder in so he could eat some of the grass inside. I couldn't get him to look up when I took the pictures. I put the camera in my pocket and he stood and looked at me. I get the camera back out and he wouldn't look up. Go figure!

Got a little closer to getting it usable. I guess I could turn them in now but it would make it harder having to work around the little buggers. They would want to be up close with their nose. I didn't get enough plywood. I will need three more sheets.

Thank you for sharing all you do with the mini horses . and the shelter is looking great. one step at a time and it gets done. i think the horses are lucky to have you for a dad. Thanks but I think I am lucky to have the privilege of caring for them. Working with them brings on a special kind of calm. They really try to please if I take extra time with one of them. I just wish I had more time to give. I was only at the factory an hour today to do the UPS shipping. I came home early to work my lunch on the shelter and lost track of time. Called the factory and said I would not be in. The girl said she had unloaded a material truck and every thing was fine. I just told Dixie that my pain level was almost to watery eyes and slightly below the scream level. I am tickled with what I got done but sleep might be hard to find. The weather is going to go down hill this week. I hope to go tomorrow evening to get more plywood and have some little horses in it by the weekend. I have two stalls in the barn that needs repaired after that. Kricket and Pepper play rough now and then. They are not destructive by nature but when they start tussling in a stall things break.

am closer to having the shelter as done as I will do it. I have three little horses that are using it now. New feeding dishes that should have been here a few days ago took a side trip with FedEx. Might get them tomorrow. I do have some boards to cut and nails to drive that I hope to be done this weekend. Sparky is over six months old and I will put him in with the three when I get the feed dishes mounted. I am thinking of making some dividers between the dishes to cut down the horses desire to change dishes in case one of the others might have received a slight more feed than they got. With just three I can set and keep them at their own dish but with four I think it would be like trying to heard cats. Right now all 14 know their own dish and for the most part stay until their dish is empty. However the first one done does go to another horses dish if they are not done and try to push in. Sparky being in with older horses and eats slower I set beside him until he has eat his feed.

am sure they all listen to you as their dad. and the little shelter looks great. do you use pan feeders or tie up buckets to the fence. the problem i see with feeders is they play with them than i have to search the yard and they follow me around. i use a trough and they line up and they all get their fair share.

Very nice, it looks great! Adventures2
It looks like your trees are at about the same stage as the ones here in NY, it's a beautiful time of year. Look at how the color has changed since you started the shelter only 3 weeks ago.

Feed dishes came in yesterday so they were fed inside the shelter last evening. I still need to add rails on the sides and bring in dirt to fill in up to the bottom of the sides.
I rip an 1 inch off the edge of a 2"X 4" and place over the dish lips so they stay in place. Without dividers it looks like I just might have a problem with them staying at the proper dish.
Left to right is Dandy, Patches and Thunder. With winter hair Patches does not have patches. He turns all white. Dandy is getting lighter with his winter hair but being a cremello Thunder is not changing.

It is interesting that fed as a community the horses all know their dish and place and yes every so often one has to put his nose into the dish of the neighbor.. you have done a great job to keep those little darlings warm and comfy .
