I have seen those things, and I think they look like so much fun. mini-graphics-christmas-714031 Maybe in the summer time, when your horses are eating the fresh green grass, from the land you just cleared, you can use your hay hut as a play house. It might even be big enough for grown ups.
ok,,,,, yes,,,, If I had one I would try it.

DG I may have to try it out when we put it together. Tony is going with me. I think people think he's my husband instead of son in law. Because we are always seen together. We took a road trip to Mountain Home Arkansas today to go to Home Depot. Which is actually closer than Springfield. It was a scenic drive. I got 10 bags of the quick setting quikcrete for post in the barn for stalls. Sets up in 20-40 mins. I also got a new light fixture for the dining room that has a fan on it. Now just got to get it put in. On the way back I had to brake for a herd of deer crossing the road and then further down the road I had to brake for a wild turkey crossing the road. Got home and came into the house and Molly was excited to see me and she jumped up and caught my hand with her claws and laid it open. Bled like a stabbed pig. But of course all I have to do is bump it and I split skin.. Hell getting old.

It sounds like you had a great shopping trip. I am sure pics will be coming soon of the new light with the fan.
I really understand what you are saying about the old skin. I try to keep leather gloves on all the time when I am out of the house. Shoot, I told my daughter the other day, I can loose a chunk of skin from just waving, and it gets even worse if it is a windy day.

My neighbor used to be the rep for those 'Hay Huts' in this area. I see a few around here, and she has several of them on her farm. Not sure what they sell for new,., I don't think she made much on them, as she no longer sells them. They seem nice, especially in a herd situation,.., Zippy is soooooo wasteful with hay,.., GRUMBLE I'm thinking of investing in a few of those slow feeder nets for him. Makes me crazy to throw out good hay, just bc hes PICKY!!

Mister wasted a lot of hay too. I thought perhaps if I bought better (read: more expensive) hay, he wouldn't pick through it so much. Nope, still wasted. I tried him with a slow feeder thingy but he didn't seem to understand what to do and got very frustrated with it. Maybe the one I tried had holes too small to start him with? I don't know.

Well we just picked it up its standing up in the back of my truck. Its about 2ft higher than the truck cab.So we have it tied in with ratchet straps. Red they are 795.00.But the guy told me the price of them were going up 100.00 which then no one will buy them. Pics when I get home. Having breakfast at Cracker Barrell. That is a treat these days for us..

After reading all (some yucky) uses for a handkerchief I decided, if some cowboy tried to dry my tears with a used one, I might have to use it, to bundle some rocks, and bop him with it.

I really like it Ming.
I can see where one of these will nearly stop all the waste of hay getting wet, dropping on the surrounding ground, being trampled, peed and pooped on...nor will it make a nice bed to sleep on either.
It does look like a neat place to play too.... See, you can "re-use" when or if that time comes {ducking thrown horse poops! ...Missed me!}:

I think it will do the job. The bale buddy worked well. But with 5 horses it took a beating. There was a small hole in the side of it and JR found it and instead of eating the hay from the top. The big idiot was pulling it out of the hole. HL4L watch your back or a poop ball might get cha when you least expect it!!

Just curious Ming. How heavy is it? I noticed you lifted it with the tractor bucket. I don't have a tractor, so I am not sure how I would get one over a bale.
Right now I have to tip the ring on it's side, roll it to the new bale, then knock it over. I have done it a couple of times, by myself, when I had to, but it is pretty much, more than I can do on my own. I don't think there is any way I could lift a hay hut on my own, and I am wondering if it might be to heavy for two people?

Well they say that one person can do it. I tried it after we tied a tied a rope to the loop on top. Well my big ass couldn't do it. Go to their website, they have a video of it. Www.hayhut.com it weighs over 200lbs I believe. It's nice having the tractor. ?

I didn't realize it was that heavy, but I guess it makes sense that it has some weight to it to keep it from blowing over. Good thing you guys have a tractor.
