I didn't realize it was that heavy, but I guess it makes sense that it has some weight to it to keep it from blowing over. Good thing you guys have a tractor. Yes really!! We couldn't do half the stuff we do without it. It's old but it has done the job!! I could always hook my utv to it and pull it over.. But we will probably use the tractor since we take the bales out with it. The only thing I don't like about it is isn't 4wd. SO when the field is really muddy it makes it hard not to get stuck.. When it muddy we take the round bale and Tony gets in front of the bale with his atv and I'm behind him in my toy pushing it out there. It does get a little dirty but we end up taking off the first layer for the pigs.

It looks great and looks like the horses like it! Will be interesting to see how much/little waste there is with it.

I think the hay hut probably weighs less than the metal ring I have, but I don't have to pick up the ring. It just gets pushed over, rolled to the new bale, then pushed over the bale. I don't know how easily a square hay hut would roll.
I think, for now, it will just have to stay on my wish list.

Good timing for that hut Ming....
Horses can eat to their content, hay stays dry and inside...less mess!!

That sure is a neet thing, Mingiz! Since Gerald is retired we can hand feed our horses but I'm wondering if cattle would use it just as well to save hay. I'll have to ask Gerald. He would never spend the money to buy one new that's for sure and I've never seen one around here but I sure do like the idea! I can see goaties getting in there just for fun :-)
