LD - you can probably find a generic charger at a place like Wal-Mart. Just make sure you know what the male end needs to look like, or better yet, bring the camera with you.

So he was much better again yesterday, I took him out for just over an hour on a route I take Dax with loads of driveways to escape to incase he starts acting up at traffic but overall he was pretty good, we saw tons of cars and a bicycle, he did spook at ducks taking off from pond but it was just a jump in the air spook no spinning, he did stop dead a couple times and ignore my leg to move but after a sharp slap on the neck with my hand he moved off, hes relaxing more and again I took him to his fart around spot and made him stand and back up and stand again and he only went to move off once, hes learning now if I shout wait he has to else he will have to spin or will get a bump in the mouth. Sorry, I cant get the video on this machine, I will be taking more, anyone interested and not on my facebook my name is pamela anderson balmer, edmonton, alberta, heres a pic! Attachment Deleted

He shed out to such a lovely, dark golden color! Cowboy would do that too - almost white in the winter and then dark in the summer but I don't think he was ever that dark. Such a good boy.

Took him a different ride today he was good, he has started refusing to move off when I first get on him, lazy bum, I just turn his head and once he's moved a front foot he goes, anyway couple Spooks, one at a bush another I'm not sure, a bicycle sped past us from behind today, I got more of a fright than him!....and 2 weird off road type vehicles with flags passed us too, he was fine with all traffic today:)
I always knew and can say again he is the kind of horse that with a little time put on him will be safe for anyone to ride:)

So rode him again yesterday after over a week off due to all the hassle Im having with contractors and the fact he was lame, hes not lame now, just sore on gravel which is the norm for him, Ive started using keratex gel hopefuly it helps.
He was good, didnt want to walk past guys working at house, circled him once and he went, he was quite lazy, he did stop a couple times as if saying its hot Im tired and want to go home but moved again as soon as I asked him, he was dragging his feet a bit but if I nudged him he would perk up for a bit till the next time!
Im quite happy hes being lazy, this is what he was like before and how I need him if hubbys going to ride him, Im planning on taking Dax out with him and letting hubby loose on Ira next wednesday as hes off work for canada day and hopefuly roads quieter than at the weekend, Ill let him ride him round the property this weekend without the lead rein to see how they do together:)

So here you go, hubbys first ride on ira on the road, he did good, ira was well behaved, he did stop once and refuse to move so I showed hubby how to get him moving just by circling then straightening up again, hoping to get him out again this weekend:)Attachment Deleted

Ok everyone, ride did not go good atall!
So it started out OK, he refused to move but after circling went, then came past house 4 doors down(10mins)....someone fired a chainsaw up, ira jumped but hubby panicked, I stayed calm and we got him settled a bit, carried on but ira was stepping out and tense circled him a few times then a truck came, put ira in ditch as hubby was tense just as truck got level with us ira started playing up, backing up, almost rearing as hubby was tensing reins, anyway truck went by hubby was shouting so got off him, I got on ira and hubby led Dax, ira was OK but when I asked him to fall back then back up he was being a dick screwing head in air I could not back him up, I tried lots, so circled and slapped him rode him back to Dax by this time in our driveway, told hubby to wait and I made ira go out again, just a wee ways, motorbike came he was good, so joined hubby in driveway, he decided to get on Dax, got on then he realised he had no reins he'd left them over his head so hubby panicked, dax panicked, ira panicked, hubby finally managed to jump off same time as I did and I grabbed daxs reins thumped ira who was being an ass, anyway led them back and on unsaddling Dax noticed hubbys totally ripped my $40 non slip pad, typical:(
Anyway Ill take Ira out sunday or monday when I have time and carry a whip, I used to ride him with a whip but Ive been trying to keep him lazy for him but the bugger needs a good whack for that bad behaviour, I slapped him with my hand but had no effect, no way could I back the bugger up when I wanted him to, I was so mad, I hate being beat, Ill be ready next time but knowing my luck he will behave perfectly as he normally does for me.
Not the best of days for hubby, lol!

Sorry to hear the ride didn't go well. Sounds like a little bit of Murphys law. You know, if something can go wrong it will, and at the worst possible time.
Hopefully next time goes better.

Panicking is the worst case scenario. Horses pick up our behaviour in a heart beat and reflect that. Hubby was nervos, you were nervous because hubby was nervous and horses then got nervous because you two were nervous. Hehe. Maybe you should try ride in a paddock. And not in palace where there is so much sounds and cars. Maybe familirar place will be more relaxing for the horses.
