I was reading somewhere (not sure if it was in that article or another) that one particular mule they bred to a donkey and got a mule baby but then they bred the same mule "mare" to a (horse) stallion and got a horse!
Genetics is really, really cool. If I were still in college I would look into this more as a project.

I guess I knew mules were sterile, but I didn't know why. Now that I know, I think I understand. I think that little one is a cutie, and no I don't think the world is coming to an end either. It is just another one of those unexplainable things. Where there is a will, there is a way.
