I got Heidi all moved out of her bedroom, and spiffed it all up for Mica. There was a small kitty bed I had gotten for Heidi. I planned on washing it up, and putting it downstairs for the kitties, but sometimes I don't get all my plans completed. I had tossed the stinky kitty bed in the chair in Mica's room, and sort of forgot about it.
Now you all know how badly I wanted Mica to become a real house dog, but that isn't looking really positive because she has such a high prey drive, and I worry there might be trouble between her and the kitties. If you think about it, it isn't altogether that bad for Mica though. She has traded a 4X4 cement floored cage in an un-heated, un-air conditioned shed, with an outside poop piled 4X10 foot run, for her own bedroom, with heat and air, wall to wall carpet, and a backyard.
I thought sleeping on carpet would be comfortable for her, but sadly I was mistaken. The poor darling wanted a doggy bed to sleep on. How thoughtless of me. Never one to complain, she did the best she could, in spite of my shameful neglect. My poor darling, took the stinky old cat bed off the chair and did her best to sleep in it.
But you can see why I had to run into town and get her a better fitting bed.
All we have here for dog beds is Dollar General, but as soon as I can, I will get to Walmart and get her a bigger, and better one.

She did have an old blanket, but after the last time I tried to wash it, then the time I spent cleaning the washer. Ewwww!! I threw it away. I was thinking of getting her a bed with a removable cover, and only having the cover to wash. I will have to see what I can find.
She is such a sweet dog. I wish I could have gotten her as a puppy. We could have had a lot of fun.

what a great looking dog and you can see she just loves that bed. i use big think saddle pads that i find at the used bin in the tack shop and put them around the house for the dogs to lie on. when they get cruddy, i toss outside. and burn them.

Critters are so cute smileys-dogs-171634 They just want their own spot,., my kitty is like that. When I make a bed for him to sleep on, on MY recliner (bc he likes to move from 'spot to new spot' on occasion), he comes along and reminds me to get out of his 'spot'. The moment I get up, he grabs his 'new spot' back and I have to sit someplace else smileys-home-243828 LOL, my husband and he will fight over a spot, both usually win, as they find a way to share it

What a cutie, I'm a sucker for dogs smileys-dogs-171634
I have about 4 beds in my closet for my pooch. He insists on chewing through them to the insides and tearing them apart, then I find him with polyester fluff all over in the morning. Not a good thing, I'm so afraid of blockages. So no more soft beds for this guy. I have given him one of those fake sherpa throws to sleep on and some thick bath towels. He doesn't chew those. Maybe when he is older I can try again.
Those beds you show in the pictures would be history.

That is another reason I didn't get her a bed. Our dog Buster, does what your dog does, Val. Then we have stuffing everywhere. I am hopeful in this case, that Mica is top dog, so he won't dare chew it up. She is 12 years old, so she is asleep on it, most of the day anyway, so he really doesn't have a chance to destroy it.

Her on the cat bed is soooo cute! It made me think of pics of dogs on little bitty kitty beds and cats stretched out across huge dog beds. When I first started reading, you bringing up her prey drive, stinky kitty bed; I was prepared for pics of a wild rampage! I wonder what that means that, something that smells strongly of cat, is not torn up, but peacefully slept on? Probably nothing, but it sounds great!

That is just it. She is such a sweetheart. All the years she spent in a tiny kennel with no affection, breaks my heart. She, and I, could have been such, life long, good friends. Well she is mine now. I do bring her in the house, but I don't trust her. She might lay calmly on a kitty bed, but when she sees the cats, she immediately goes on point. I know, the other dogs, from the place where she came from, have killed cats. They are only doing what their breeding dictates they do, but it still breaks my heart, but that is another story.
I am just trying to make the rest of her life, good. Her only purpose in life now, is to just be a dog, and allow herself to be spoiled a little bit.
OMG Heidi just came out of the basement, and attacked my feet playfully, because I was rubbing them on the carpet.
What a good kitty. Oops!!!! Honey came out, and hollered for a bottle of water. Damn!!!!! Moment broken.
Maybe tomorrow.

Beds, so very important. What a precious pooch picture, they sleep so peacefully sometimes. Coda has been with us about a year and a half and can finally sleep through us walking past him on his bed when we go potty in the middle of the night. Coda has Schoenie's old beds; a bolster, a "poofy" one, and a smaller bed for traveling. This is what comes from Schoenie living with me and we go visit Gerald at home; gotta bring have a bed where one sleeps around you know :-)

Diamond.....cute dog.
That bed...try Tractor Supply. They have some really nice, very plump beds that your pooch will fit on with ease....
Best is they are affordable....I think much nicer than WallyWorld and cheaper than the in-store selection by me..
Enjoy!!

What fun is that?! :|Gerald still doesn't know how much I spent on Schoenie's beds and I'm not telling him either. But now they've been amortized over several years and two dogs plus a couple cats, so I'd say I got my money's worth, whereas the Fleet Farm bed went bye-bye a long time ago. I gotta say that they are very comfortable, I could sleep on them myself.

I have bought doggy beds there before. It is a lot like Tractor Supply. I even took Buster in when he was a puppy, and let him pick out his own bed. Of course that was before I knew he was a bed destroyer.
Doggy shopping is so much. It's like shopping for your kids, but the dogs never complain like the kids do, so it's better.

i think i mentioned my son in law trains, breeds, and does "field trials" with english setters. they have an absolutely beautiful pole barn, with stainless kennels, and runs. it also has air conditioning, and heat, each kennel has "lik-itz" waterers. each kennel has raised, heated heat mat type dog beds made of pvc. there is a fly spray system installed. he has won thousands of $'s, his puppies start at $3-4,000 at 8 wks, and has sold winning, trained dogs for $20,000 +... BUT, when i go to see my grandsons there stands 12-16 dogs, being paid no attention, frantically barking, spinning circles, begging for any attention they can get!! the breed has such beautiful temperments, and just crave the attention, they are not getting it is so sad!! but as long as they make money...

That is sad mule. it's so disappointing when the motive goes from enjoying the animals to making money.
