I'm so glad he made it through the surgery well and is home recovering. That's wonderful news! I hope everything goes smoothly with his chemo. That poor guy has had more than his share of tough times, but having the love of your family will help see him through. I will be praying for George. Please give that sweet boy a snuggle and a smooch for me.

Thanks! The news people came yesterday to talk to the vet and Kirby from SAFE Team, so they got to see them again, and they said it will air Monday, so there should be a link to share within a few days of that :)

HL - she posted it on George's website. It doesn't sound like this is just a small set back. Praying for a painless time for George as well as for his mommy and daddy and siblings.
Here is what George posted for those who missed it.
George's Story Yesterday at 3:21am ยท
Well, it's the update we've all been dreading.
My cancer has spread. My bloodwork yesterday was perfect, so it doesn't appear to be majorly affecting any organs. But, it has started to spread in my head. I lost my sight today. It was scary! Even for a brave lion like me! There I was just minding my own business, when blammo! No sight! I stuck pretty close to Benny the clinic cat all day cause I was a little freaked out and needed comforting. So, at the very least the cancer is affecting my optic nerve. We are also concerned that it has spread further into my brain and that's why I'm having trouble peeing and pooping. frown emoticon The vets have no idea how long I have. It could be days. It could be a week or two. Maybe a month. We just have to take it day by day.
The good news is that I'm home! Mommy picked me up tonight and brought me home, so I've been spending the night figuring my way around the house. We are super lucky that we live in what Mommy calls a bungalow, so there are no stairs for me to fall down. I've done a pretty darn good job getting around! When we got home I made a beeline for my room and made sure the litter box was still in the corner and my bed was still in the middle of the room. Then I wandered around the rest of the house to make sure all my stuff was where I left it and that my siblings hadn't stolen anything! Everything appears to be in it's right place, so that's good. At least I'm not bumping in to things! I'm still pretty confused about this whole blindness thing, though. I'm still not eating, so Mommy might try a different appetite stimulant with me, and she might also get some more of that medicine that helped me pee just in case. The other good news is that I can definitely poop, as I did so in the carrier on the way home!
So, not the news anyone wanted to read, but Mommy wanted to prepare everyone that my time is limited. I am so thankful that Mommy & Daddy have spoiled me rotten the last 6 months and I know they will continue to do so for whatever time I have.
No pictures tonight, as we are all just too exhausted at the moment. A lot of tears have been shed but tomorrow we will once again start focusing on making my time here as happy and comfortable as possible. Thank you to everyone for all of your support! Mommy will keep you all updated.

Wonderful news! George can see again! It seems they did notice swelling on his forehead, over nose, and wondered about tumor there. They did more chemo, two days worth shrunk the swelling, taking pressure of the optic nerve and helping his sense of smell. I didn't realize he was having trouble smelling. That could explain why he wasn't interested in eating. It doesn't mean he is out of the woods, cancer is still there, but... hope is a glorious thing!

I read his story about being blind and having a set back and i am truly sorry for the news. (of course) than reading about the new chemo treatment shrinking the tumor and relief set in . he has been such a great inspiration to others that have these setbacks. and because of you and a great team of doctors George is ok. miracles do happen.

My heart is torn in two directions: I want George to beat every odd, I want him to live a long, wonderful, pain-free life; if he has to die, if that is what is going to happen, I want him to pass, peacefully, without having to endure pain and fear. If this reprieve is only to let him have a little more time, happy, then that is what I want. That makes for some wild prayers. God will do what is right, we must take heart in that.

My heart is breaking. I just read the news that George crossed over the Rainbow Bridge this evening. smileys-sad-593832 I'm glad he no longer suffers, but I'm sure going to miss seeing his handsome little face, and reading all of his updates. Thank you, Shadowlark, for taking him in, making him a part of your family, and showing him so much love and compassion in the final months of his life, including making the final hard decision, and thank you for letting us all be a part of your journey with him, through the good times and the bad. He was a very lucky little kitty to have found you, and he will live on in all of our hearts.
RIP George
