Oh geez Apollo, not what we wanted to hear. I hope Benny heals up as quickly as possible. As you know, just because you can't ride doesn't mean you can work with him (once the lameness is healed up). Play some games, teach a trick or two, or just hang out with him and groom him.

Post removed - see stagecoach update tomorrow.
Sorry all, I hate to do this ( and hate when it is done) but until I get this dealt with in person it's how it has to be.

I've been so caught up in the stuff I'm dealing with that I haven't had time to do more than just pop in every now and then, so I'm just now getting caught up on this thread. I'm so sorry this happened!!
I agree with DG - write down everything you want to say or discuss. When you get into the meeting and emotions start to take over it can become very easy to lose track of all the points you wanted to cover. Good luck, stand firm as Benny's advocate, and please let us know how it goes with the vet and the meeting.

'Didn't make yourself popular'? I hope they weren't snarky about you being out there at that time for him when they're the reason he's injured to start with. They should never have put him in with a horse they didn't know and why was she not in quarantine? She came from an auction. Who knows what she could carry, warmblood or not, and she's just been in close proximity to a bunch of other horses nobody knows. I'd be totally choked about the snippy comments about thoroughbreds compared to warmbloods. Particularly when a warmblood just kicked my thoroughbred's butt. Who's the bad horse now, jerks?
What a way to start at a new barn, that really sucks.

Well that was a great update. Glad Benny is going to be ok, that the BO and BM are stepping up and taking responsibility for their mistake. Is there a community area to post things? Perhaps a quick thank you note from you and Benny for the basket would be a good idea?

I agree with the sewing project. If I were closer I would be one it. I wonder if I could somehow market something like that around here? We have quite a few English barns in the area....

Oh Apollo No! I am so so sorry. Poor little man! I've always been afraid of TBs because they are so big and can move so quickly, so agile. And where I take my lessons they're ALL TBs and the smallest one is over 16h! And the cross ties are in the aisles and I'm always ending up behind one and then between the horse and a wall just to get from point A to point B... but you know what I've found every single time!? They're all honey bunnies, sweet and well behaved, calm as can be.
Several years ago I even rode a hunter, 17.5! He was a perfect gentleman. I think more TBs are well behaved if they are treated well. In fact perhaps that goes without saying for any horse breed, right?!
I think Horse4 hit the nail on the head. You be the change you want to see in the world. You and Benny are going to prove it every day! And yeah, that BO is totally at fault here and I'd tell it to her too. That was an incredibly stupid thing to do. I hope you and your vet can talk to the BO and tell her exactly where the bear pooped in the buckwheat and who should pay for the poo!
In the meantime, gentle hugs and kisses to Benny, poor little man :-(

Okay, missed the second page when I posted... So glad that things are getting better but lessons were learned the hard way, as I guess it always is.

Ugh, put a big note on his blanket saying please leave me on, idiots.
That's a bit worrying, as if you don't have enough on your plate, I bought a supplement that helps with colic, it's a probiotic, supposed to help at times of stress and you can feed long term, might be worth thinking of just till he settles:)
