So my iPad is prob 2 years old now and it's having issues, glitchy, slow, annoying, plus I hate apple anyway.
It seems that now you only can get a year or twos use out of a computer or laptop or tablet.
Any recommendations for a new one that's not an arm and a leg?
Im thinking laptop over tablet as my eyesight is getting older all the time lol!...plus be nice to have a keyboard or the choice at least, must have decent screen to look at, thanks in advance

I'm no help, I'm a mac kind of gal! Love my MacBook pro I got used off of Ebay a few years ago. I think the macs last a lot longer than the PC laptops and thus worth the investment.

I wouldn't recommend a lap top if you have cats. Morris likes to lay on my keyboard, and type all kinds of things. He also likes to watch cat videos on you tube, and would rather be doing that rather than allowing me to type on HA. He will also change my settings, but won't tell me how he did it so I can get it back to normal. A few days ago he made my screen so small I could hardly see it. I still don't know how to navigate windows 8, so I was all day trying to figure out how to make it normal again.
I just wanted to wish you good luck in your search and happy shopping.

My daughter got a new one recently and likes it but I'd have to ask her what brand it is. She did NOT want a touch screen and had a bit of hard time finding one that wasn't. I'll ask her what brand and why not a touch screen tonight.

Diamond girl, that won't be a problem, I'll keep him away from it!
NHG, thanks, does she watch movies on it atall?...just wondering screen size.
I know some people swear by those cheap brands like asus, acer, seems logical if they are done after two years

I have an acer, a asus transponder that has a removable screen and it detaches from the key board, and a dell windows 8 that i use as xp. i love the acer. the transponder takes a bit of getting used to and the dell is too big, but i do use it

All my lap tops have been Dell I had an Inspiron and it lasted me many years. With no issues. The next one I get will be another Dell. I also used them in the computer lab when I worked. Lint uses an HP. He has had his for awhile. But we are both going to get new ones. My laptop crashed but like I said was old. I have a dell note book now . It's ok but I like having a cd/dvd burner and with this your limited unless you get the extras. I got it mainly for road trips but after my laptop died I use it all the time.

LD, my daughter's new laptop is an MTS or something like that. Three initials, anyway. I should have written it down, I knew I'd forget. She chose that brand because it has a really good graphics something or other. She didn't go with a touch screen because her last two laptops died when the screens went so she didn't want anything that had more things that could go wrong. It's embarassing how little I know about computers.

I don't know how much help this is, because I bought my laptop several years ago (it's Windows 7 - before the whole touch-screen thing came along). My laptop is an HP with a widescreen monitor. I love it!

Have you gotten one yet? I have an Acer that has done everything I need. I know I've had it several years, it has Windows Vista, yes it's that old!

I currently have a Macbook Pro with the retina display and I absolutely love it... so if your anti-apple i may not be much help I used to have a while back an acer that had windows vista on it as well. I liked it did what I wanted but I needed a new cord and I had a heck of a time getting ahold of acer since everything was under warranty. They ended up not helping me at all and had to buy a new one through the source. And eventually I dropped it and it stopped turning on all together (... probably not the computers fault... it fell on a concrete floor, im hard on my stuff!)

That sounds like whoever manufactures Acer doesn't back up their products very well. Not a good selling point.

It's a Dell 15.6" Inspiron 15 Laptop PC with AMD A8-5545M Quad-Core Processor, 6GB Memory, 750GB Hard Drive, and Windows 8 Home; It has 2 usb ports, 1 hmdi and CD/DVD r/w drive. It was on sale. Won't get it until Monday.
My last one was a Dell Inspiron and it was at least 6yrs old or older before it died..
