I tried googling "horse transporter reviews" and got a list of transporters. I want to see comments from people who have used them. Anyone know how I find that?

I'm working on it. I've gone to horse transporter sites, and joined so I could post on 3 of them. There are tons of trips being scheduled; up and down the east coast, from California, from north to south and back, but NY to south central- nope. With the number of shows in Tulsa, Oklahoma, you'd think there would be tons! The weird thing is, I found one that might be workable. I missed her Sept 20 run because Belle doesn't have her coggins and health certificate yet. She has another trip in Mid October, but it may already be full. OK, the young lady that is keeping Belle said that this woman messaged her asking for my phone number. We had been messaging, so she could have just asked me? I'm not certain how she got Tammy's full name. I thought I had been careful to say T, or Tammy in some places, but not her whole name, I thought. I guess I'm wanting to check that one out in particular. When I say that, I realize I probably should just google her.

You'll have to look at reviews for each one listed, just type their names in google with reviews, I looked a while ago and there's not that many that have reviews
you could ask a few of the rescue groups, I am friends with a couple of places that seem to know lots of transporters etc, shoot I can't remember their business names just their personal names lol!

Shame I'm not headed to MD. with the LQ. I would pick her up for you. Wouldn't be that far out of the way. 7hr haul from home. Up in the finger lakes area. Be a pretty drive. But with a shipper you would get her faster... Good Luck in your search...

OK....try any of the major shippers of Thoroughbreds that haul from the Finger Lakes Race Track region. Town I think is called Farmington, I was there once picking up a horse... also check for shippers that do the college at Geneseo {SUNY@Geneseo}...it is a agricultural area and tons of horses. FLRT is not NYRA sanction so they may still have a schedule and horses shipping around.
Geneseo is about half way between those two locations. I know for a fact there are major barns in that area {my bf had her horse up their and there were barns galore and she shipped in & out a few times with pro-haulers. Her horse was boarded in Dansville when she worked up there!} This is prime-time to haul south from there. Horses, show-barns are getting ready to haul for the winter south...she may need to make some connections, but these are pros, have designated drop-off and lay-up locations where she will be safe and well cared for...
Look into Beacon Hill { www.beaconhillhorsetransportation.com } Equine Express N.A. { www.equineexpress.com } Brook Ledge Horse Transport { www.brookledge.com }
I have dealt with Beacon and Brook... know others who dealt with Equine...
Check into them. These place have air-ride equipment, different stall configurations and are 100% track-able at any time via GPS...and cell-phone. You know where your horse is when ever you need to for peace of mind...
I would also contact these rescues as they deal specifically with Thoroughbreds coming from this area... they will know what companies ship from the area, who is safe and has good equipment and who does a great job with the animals... { fingerlakesfinesttbs.com/ } I would also try this place for the same reasons as stated above... {http://www.fingerlakestap.org/} These places may be your biggest help in securing transport...rescuing and getting horses to new homes is all they do!
Good luck....let us know when she comes home.

Shoot HL a message....she deals with this stuff too and although not right in her backyard, she will know who is around. Remember HL has been in business up there for many years...she had a showing barn, did and still does R&R....besides retirements.
Good luck!!
Once you find a company.... Better Business Bureau I would make contact with....

I will check all that out! I've had quite a bit of contact w/ Linda Harris, Circle L Horse Transport. Anyone familiar with her? I googled and couldn't find anything bad, a couple of good reviews.

If this is the same company...only thing I saw..doing livestock. Same company also does other "trucking".... www.ripoffreport.com/r/Circle-L-Horse-Transport/Mount-Vernon-Missouri-65712/Circle-L-Horse-Transport-Horse-Owners-Beware-Do-not-allow-him-to-transport-your-animal-1053853
Do check that who ever you use is insured, has a DOT livestock carrier number, is current with directives from the federal government. Has properly licensed drivers behind the wheel...looking for a CDL license so you know the driver driving is mandated by federal laws to have a health physical and meet stringent health requirements. His good health lessens medical worries on the road... I would want to know what their requirements are for vaccinations, and paperwork... When is that trailer cleaned and sanitized??? There are a lot of contagious things floating around right now... I would want to know the route and how long my horse is on that trailer, where they stop and rest the animals. DO they get them off that trailer at any time? This is not a air ride trailer...animals hauling for long periods of time do get stressed and need down, quiet time to rest the legs that grow weary from road vibrations...
The only thing that truly bothers me is it is a slant load. Normally slants don't have full dividers, a inability to hang a water bucket in front of the horse. Your Belle may be a fine shipper, but what if the guy next to her is a scrambler or a cow-kicker...I just like to know they have the protection of that divider between unknown traveling companions. I also being this is a slant, want to know those windows are screened and barred and operable... if that trailer window is open what protects her eyes from blowing debris {slants are known to have} or her head sticking out from a passing truck...{I saw the bars...} I'm a worrier, no doubt about it..... this isn't just them but any carrier! I want to see the rig{s} pictures, inside & out pictures....think there is only one trailer sounds like. No mention of several on the FB page....mention in their blurb shipping 3-4 horses yet the current picture is a 6 horse... What happens if they have a breakdown, a serious one? It happens...it is a truck they do a lot of hauling and criss-crossing the country with if you read how often they are here, there and everywhere...
I would want to know there interstate trucking number for livestock, check into that very carefully and make sure they are in full-compliance with federal regulations....
That is your Belle, your baby on that trailer...only wanting to protect her best you can while getting her home to you... This is a commercial shipper, they are to be held to higher standards than say your friend doing you a favor... I want references I can contact....and I would be contacting several.
Do check carefully. I know nothing about this particular business.... I would be like this no matter who the shipping company is....
Have Ming ask Lint what part of the trucking industry does livestock...he would know and be able to point you in the direction of good questions to ask and things legally required to have by that company as this is "a business"........ Requirements are very different for trucking animals versus cargo...you don't want someone fudging and skating along at the possible expense of your pocket or of Belle....
Best of luck.
:-Xsorry, again a book. I'm so wanting this to go well for you...

I guess I'm wanting to check that one out in particular. When I say that, I realize I probably should just google her. Well, I don't know what to think. For the whole thing; In Tammy's message she said a Laura had messaged her and was very pushy. I messaged back that I had no Laura on my list. Tammy responded saying oh not Laura, her name was Linda. I asked what Linda said, why Tammy thought she was pushy; mostly it was because she asked for my phone #. As I said in the previous post, I was confused about how Linda got Tammy's full name. So, in a message to Linda (Harris of Circle L Horse Transport.) I mentioned that Tammy said she (Linda) had contacted her asking for my phone #. I was curious why she hadn't just asked me for it. Well, Linda responded saying that Tammy had contacted her first, asking about transporting a horse, it was before the two of us had started communicating. Now, that would answer how Linda got Tammy's info, so that story does make sense. But, if that is the case, why the Hell did Tammy make out that Linda was pushy for contacting her, if she made the first contact? Is it that Tammy is actually a little drama queen herself? Haven't I had enough of those? Or do you think I'm blowing things out of proportion?

There is so much excellent advice here! We spent a good part of the day taking Mom to an eye specialist in Wichita. Living in the country does make a lot of things far away! Anyhow, I've checked out some of the suggestions, but it's late and I will get back to it tomorrow. I've been taking so many notes, good old fashioned written down in a notebook! My brain is tired. I will tell you what I can tomorrow.

I also found out you live 10 miles from a friend of mine from back in VA.. Small world!
Ok my friend got back to me. The ladies name is Laura Dobbe. Her cell number is 715-498-8909. She is in WI. She said to mention her name which is Ruth Thompson.
