Gerald feels pretty bad about it but he asked Coda, "Where's mom?" And Coda ran to the bedroom, then to the kitchen and then sat by the door wagging his tail... poor little furry man. Then when I called this evening and I talked to the Code on the phone, he KNEW that I had to be somewhere so after he looked all around the phone Coda asked Gerald to let him outside so he could go look. Awwww. When I come home on the weekends Coda gets the first and kisses. Gerald doesn't even try to get his turn until Coda gets his lovies Poor little non-abstract thinker puppy dog

That's so sweet that Coda loves you that much. And Gerald's pretty sweet too waiting for his turn after the dog! I guess he knows who is most important in the household.

hahaha! I'm with gerald on feeling bad about tricking Coda as I did that to my son's dog Vicki. He had gone to school, I chanted where's John, go get John. She raced through the house slipping and sliding around the corners to his bedroom with a bounding leap jumped on the bed tail wagging so hard her whole body wiggled searching for her master among the blankets only he wasn't there. I laughed so hard when she gave me a perplexed look. She's a smart dog and figured out that I tricked her so now she won't go running to find him unless he calls her.

Vicki figured you out, huh? That IS very clever.
Gerald got trained on who was WHOM with Schoenie, my main man for more years than Gerald was. I adopted Schoenie a year after my divorce when my kids were mostly at their dad's house. Dad never had them do chores and would spend his money on toys and play time. Schoenie and I were thick as thieves, going camping and long walks in the park. It was great.
Gerald and I are very concerned that our animals have a good life and know that they're loved and cared for. Particularly Coda who had such a tough life before us. Its just sad what people do and don't do. But the folks who had him are the ones who are really missing out, because Coda is a wonderful fellow.

I had to laugh at your stories, we go through the same things here. My dog Gooey has learned my son's dog's name. He is nuts about her. Anytime her name is mentioned his ears perk up and he goes flying through the house looking out the windows for her. So now we refer to her as "She who must not be named", lol.
I do a lot of video calls. He watches the screen and recognizes the people, but then he hears them on the speakers on the floor, and then he runs to the door for them. Totally confusing for the poor guy.

Yes dogs are funny,m and we forget how many words they really know and associate with pleasant memories. all of our dogs love ice cream. (wonder where they got that from??? not me lol) and we call it stuff now. when we had the rotties and the german shephard all we had to do was open the freezer after dinner and 4 hundred pounds of dog would come racing to the kitchen. oh that was 6 dogs. lol dog

You named your dog Gooey?! That is so darn cute! Horselady, talking about ice cream... Schoenie wouldn't eat anything but Edys and Breyers and liked the cones, not the sugar cones. Which is all fine by me because I prefer Breyers and Edy's and I like sugar cones not cones Gerald being the penny pincher he is brought home Kemps and when he offered the cone to Schoenie, Schoenie looked up at him, like, "Seriously, this is what you give me?!" But then he almost shrugged his shoulders and ate it anyway. Gerald never brought home Kemps again. Coda on the other hand isn't much into treats. Which I guess is good. Don't get me wrong, he loves hamburger and all of that kind of "manly" stuff, but its hit or miss with dog treats. Maybe that's why he's thin and Gerald and I are not!?
