How adorable! I can't wait to see it grow up. Reminds me of the story of the ugly duckling.

Peacocks are so beautiful but I've heard that they screech loudly. Is it that bad? I'm looking forward to seeing the mom and dad!

I was on vacation and there were a few around, didn't hear them too much but when I did man they were loud, I've heard of people complaining about the noise and making people get rid of them, maybe it's just breeding season they are noisy?....have to lock them up then!

They do screech, but I have so many animals, that I am use to animals making noises. They have really creepy noise. I always get chills when I hear them. Also very high maintenance animals.

Here's a video of some peacock calls. They are very loud and the call carries quite a ways away (you can hear in the background of the video another peacock calling back). Beautiful birds though. I have heard they can be mean (like geese I guess). www.youtube.com/watch?v=GikHegxYtTw

I think it is darling that this baby probably thinks her mommy is a chicken. Will you leave the baby with the mommy chicken? The mommy chicken is beautiful too. I love her little feather fetlocks.

They can be,m i was bird sitting for a year. my sons peacocks and 2 chickens and 4 pigeons and two guinea fowl,. one chicken was killed right thru the fencing and i called a friend and gave him the remaining hen and the guinea fowl. the peacocks being male and female laid eggs. about 6 i believe. each egg was gently taken to an incubator and i forget how many days later they hatched. but died within hours. here in a controlled atmosphere,, turned two times a day and non live and you have a chicken sit the eggs and one makes it,.
now he moved all of his birds to his house and just put up a giant aviary so the birds could have their freedom (sort of ) also he got 4 more pigeons. 4 more chickens and guinea foul and partridge,.
i feed them ground bread and every time the peacocks hear me go visit they screech, and it sounds like a baby crying.

That is why it sound so creepy to me. We are lucky that even that one survived. Most of the times if they are not in controlled conditions they will die. I am sad because the white ones died. They would be so pretty. Your son has a full hands with these birds. It is not a joke to take care for them.

How is the little baby peacock doing? Is the chicken still taking care of it?
