So yes, my dad yesterday won a Croatian sheepdog on tombola. A female grown pregnant dog.... I mean seriously? She has papers and all that.... My dad did not know what to do with her as he got her, so he simply brought her home, so now I have one more mouth to feed, and puppy's to take care of. But we could not left her on a street or something. We had a tie her to the chain, because she it is an adult dog, and we are afraid she will wander off and something will happen to her. So she will be tied at least until she get used to a new home. Later will take some pictures.

Wow. I wouldn't be crazy about that. But she is adorable. Poor thing must have been through a lot. Glad to hear you tied her because she just might take off and have those pups anywhere.

She does look frightened. Hopefully she will realize what a great place she is in now. I too am curious about how your dad won her.

You buy a ticket, and then at the end numbers are pulled out, and some tickets win lamps, brushes, some dogs  . some nothing. She is still very afraid. I try to be patient and not be in her face right now, until she is comfortable to come to me first. |

Aw, the poor girl. She's super cute! I'm glad she went somewhere where she'll be taken care of but having any animal as a prize is STUPID and irresponsible! OMG, who does that??!! And pregnant as well. OMG...

Right? So stupid, nobody did not know what prizes are. At same horse shows, there are also tombolas and sometimes the 1 prize is a foal. -.- I can't believe how people can be such a lowlife. At least now she will be loved.

Poor thing. I hope she can make friends with you soon. She will need a friend, when she has her puppies. It is a good thing your Dad won her, because she will have you, to look out for her.

All i have to say is WOW, but thankfully you have her and i am sure within a short time she will be fine. Is she so scared that you can not touch her or handle her.? perhaps just take her for a walk and see if she will take food from your hand.
you are right. some people are just plain dumb, and believe me , it happens in every country not just yours,.

One year at the Calgary Stampede they gave away goldfish in bowls as prizes for the game booths. What a ridiculous idea. They were ungainly and some kids were carrying around several of them. I'd guess that the majority died miserable deaths, too.

nhg thanks awful  She is better today, I petted her and she took a treat from my hand, she is even waging her "tail"(better to say her bum because she does not have a tail  ). Still little bit scared but she will be fine. |

She is great. No she did not have puppies. She was not pregnant after all. (Thank God). Garica is a very smart dog, she still does not allow anyone to touch her to much, but she is very very obedient. :-)

I'm glad she wasn't pregnant. That must have been a relief! It's a shame that she still doesn't want anyone to touch her too much, but it's great that she's so obedient! Thanks for the update.  |

I found out that she was a working dog. She never had a human who will pet her, so thats why she doesn't like human touch. But she is very well trained.

OH wow, that must have been a surprise for you guys to win a dog. Who knows maybe one day she will allow you to touch her. You seem to be very gentile so she might need that and I'm sure one day you will gain her trust.
Already being trained is definitely a bonus

I am glad that she ended up with us, I don't know how heartless you have to be to gave your dog in such a awful way. Dogs are not toys to be won.
