Hi everyone, A few years back I had heard that dogs always face North when they poop. So I did my own informal study, and every morning I would walk the dog to his spot, and sure as hell he would face North, at least I would say 90% of the time. We went on in my family to have a great debate over whether this was chance or not. Well, today I saw that there was actually a study done on this important subject. It turns out that they actually face toward magnetic North, along the North/South axis. Victory is mine! I am vindicated! Also in another article they say cows graze in the same magnetic North direction, I'll have to pay attention to the farm cows down the road. Who knows, maybe horses too? blogs.discovermagazine.com/d-brief/2014/01/02/dogs-align-themselves-to-earths-magnetic-field-when-pooping/#.VBOl4YZgpxBThere is a very large solar flare that is supposedly hitting the earth this week that may make the magnetic field unstable, which would make the dogs not face any particular direction, however let's see what your pups do. Inquiring minds want to know. smileys-dogs-171634

Our dogs face wherever they want. And cows face all over the place unless it's windy or cold from one direction and then they all face away from it. Around here the cold air comes from the north so they usually face south if it's crappy out. Very odd.

My horses face into the wind when they poop and pee. I think they don't want to get, poop or pee, all over their tails. My dogs must be abnormal, because they face any direction to poop, but my toilet faces north, so YEA!!!!, I must be pooping right.

I guess I'm in trouble, because I've got one toilet that faces east and the other toilet faces west.
I've never paid attention to which direction my dog faces when she poops, but now you've got me curious. (I hope I don't creep her out by watching her poop! )
My horses face into the wind when they pee and poop, and they graze in all different directions.

This reminds me of when I had clients looking for a house when I was a real estate agent. They wanted a feng shui (sp?) home and one criteria was that the beds had be able to be placed so that either they faced north or the heads were north, I can't remember. Surprisingly we actually found a house that had actually been set up for it with mirrors inside the walls, the front door not at an angle, and whatever else they thought mattered. Anyway, I thought it was interesting that it also had to do with north.
