Sorry to be so absent from the list things have been nonstop and totally insane. On the upside Dad is home from the hospital, he has to use a walker and isn't happy but hey he's alive which is more than we expected a month ago. For those of you that don't know he has a brain shunt to move the fluid from his brain, it's not really worked well since he got it and it finally just took a crap. He got a new one, surgery went well, he went home , 2 weeks later he spiked a temp. was taken to the ER with an infection and a shunt not working properly. The infection started in his brain and since the brain fluid went directly into his bloodstream so did the infection. So several weeks later the infection was cleaned up, new shunt installed and he got to come home. ....yes iam getting to the Wisconsin thing.
So if you know me you also know both our boys run Cross Country and 5Ks. Levi has been laid up with what we thought was a bad IT band, it wasn't it was his muscles were over developed and not allowing his hips or tailbone to move properly. Several weeks of PT and Levi started running I think the second week of Cross Country he has consistently shaved time off every run ending the season at Regionals today with an 18.20 something. Not to shabby for a young man who could not run in August at all!!! Anyway today was Regionals the top 15 boys go to the State race and top 3 schools go. We knew his chances of going individually were slim but figured if anybody could do it he could unfortunately he can in in about 30th place. We did feel his chances of going with the team were high our team has been in the top 3 all summer long but it was not ment to be. We placed 4th by just 7 points and only one of our boys and one of our girls qualified for State next wee. Clearly he was bummed but understood the hurdles he overcame just to have the chance to run at Regionals.
NOW, Iam to the WI question, when we got home he was pretty excited (not only was he going to play his new to him vintage Atari system) he got a letter from a private college asking him to apply. They are offering him based on a test he took a chance at a HUGE scholarship possibly FULL scholarship for 4 years. They are going to take into consideration of course his grades and other things but we feel it's a good thing to apply to keep his options open. Sooooooo does anybody know what kind of Engineering program that Carthage has? Right now his top choice is Purdue but he is willing to shop around and find the best school for him and what he wants to do which is possibly Bio Medical Engineering. I like that they have 12 students to just 1 prof. for the classes....that's an average but even if they were 25 to 1 it would be smaller than Purdue. They also have a Cross Country program I wasn't able to find times for the mens but baised on his times this year he would be competive at Purdue. Running is important to him and he wants to go to a school that offers it.
Other exciting news!!! Caleb our oldest is enrolled in ITT!!!!! He likes it too he doesn't have to take any "fluffy" classes that don't go with his Electrical Engineering plans and he's learning. He's not bored which is a huge hurdle for him.
OK Iam off for the nite with so much going on the last few weeks...ie: my Dad, sports, 2 sick clients I have all but shut down and odne nothing artsy So Iam off to work on some Martini glasses.
