NHG, be careful, you don't want a setback.
Glad the horse is better, at least toe abcesses grow out fast!

LD I'm going to start going to our barn and riding by myself. I'm feeling too good to keep sitting around the house and I want to ride while it's still nice out and get back into it. I lost weight while I was sick and now that I'm eating better I'm scared I'll gain it back. I wish I could get a job but with the four months of chemo and another surgery coming up it's not going to happen yet. Right now while I'm feeling good I need to enjoy it while I can.

I spoke to my farrier and she said she would have advised shoes, said it sounds like the farrier cut the white line too far back and really he should have hot shod the horse right away, but if the horse is better now which it should be after all this time then that's ok, but next time if a farrier admits to cutting too short then you need to protect it from foreign bodies:)

The farrier looked at him previously and said he'd like to put shoes on but there wasn't enough hard wall to even do that.

The farrier was at the last place they were sent for training. My friend doesn't even know who it was. But they were on the opposite side of the city so it's nobody around here.
