He is a true example of the breed, the hint of a roman nose and those chest muscles and leg muscles just mean power. and when trained make the true fighting horse of times long since past.

Those are great! Thanks for sharing. I had to laugh a bit at the ungraceful way the American got on.

I don't know if any of you have interest in reading this, if not it's for me only , but I like to explore about Lipizzan and other horses breed history. The first stud responsible for the formation of Lipizzan breed was founded by Archduke Karlo in 1575 yr., the stud was formed in Lipica witch he bough from Trieste(Italy). His aim was to grow enough good horse for riding, war and for the purposes of the stables in Graz where he then lived. It took 5 years to create good enough conditions to form a stud. In 1580. the first horses came, that were of Spanish origin, and the next four years were purchased horses from Italy ("krške" mares). The documents from that period indicate that some initial breeding was based on nine Spanish stallions and 24 "krške" mares. In the following years breeds interfered in the making of Lipizzan were horses "Neapolitanskog" origin, Arab, "kladrupskog" and horses of various Italian breed. Significant was buying of spanish stallion Cordova in 1701 , the German stallion Lipp, and Danish horses from the stud Frederiksborg. It was not until around the year 1735, under the influence of "Spanish Riding School", the breed actually started to shape it's formes and 8 lines of first stallion were established. That was the beggining of Lipizzan creation.

It is interesting, I like hearing about the "inside workings" of history, otherwise when you hear about the accomplishments without the struggle it takes away from the wonder of it all
