Very cool! I think he must have been attracted to your metal rooster. Well not really but he is neat sitting on top of it.

I got to see flamingoes in their natural habitat in Progreso, Mexico. As a birder, that is probably one of the neatest birds I have been able to check off my life list.
Any other birders here?

I had a bald eagle fly over my head while sunbathing on my back deck, that was pretty awesome, he was about 8 inches above my head:)
I also had some copper coloured hummingbirds at my feeder last year I think, when I told people here they got all excited as you don't see them often apparently!

Wow, that's pretty neat about the eagle. I only have ruby throated hummingbirds down here, I'm not sure what the copper ones would be.

My mom is a great birder..has hundreds on her life list done that I know about. Pictures by the thousands of birds she has seen...... She has traveled extensively in many areas of the world for bird migration and certain islands to see birds only known to be at that location.
In my yard I have.... Red Shouldered Hawks, Broad Wing Hawks, mature and juvenile Bald Eagles..Cooper Hawks. A bird called a "Kite", cardinals, bluebirds, blue herons, white egrets, cattle egrets, Southern Blue Jays, sparrows, doves, crows, red-headed wood pecker, downy woodpecker, one time a Pileated woodpecker... Vultures, blackbirds,...
My mom could list off more we have seen...these I remember.
A birder, guess I am and my hubby is becoming one. I love nature {minus snakes} in all forms... We also have a bobcat, red fox and coyotes...some type of owl {scared me to death when his wing touched my head!}......... bear within a few miles that I know of, wild/feral pig, armadillos, possum...skunks, rabbits and friendly squirrels I don't feed...and deer!
Told you I was rural....

Sure is swell to "be" with other folks who enjoy nature as much as I do. There was only one gal at work who loves animals like we do and Friday is her last day *whaaa* I've learned that what seem like normal conversation to me, such as what we talk about here, seems totally random to the folks at work
