So H picked up her new mare last night and is delighted but when she got there the seller hadn't located her papers. She gave her a photocopy and says she'll look for them. If I'd been there I'd have said to hold back 200 dollars until they're given or signed an agreement at the least. Its too late but I'm curious what you guys would have done? She's 92% foundation and goes back to some really good names. Oddly, her sire is known for never passing on his colour. The foal will always be the dam's colour.

It never ceases to amaze me that papers are "lost" if a car, horse. or whatever is listed for sale don't you think the papers should be accessible.? give her about a week than start to hound her. and yes monies should have been kept aside. call the association and see who's name the horse is in. i bet it is not the seller!!!! and you would have to go to the owner of record for transfer.

You're right. She never switched her to her name so H is also having to track down the breeder to get a transfer. I wish I could figure out how to get a picture on here. She and Prince are very similar. She's just not quite as dark.

She's just not quite as dark. i use my camera and send the photos to documents. than to photo bucket or tinypics is the one mingiz uses than on here either copying photobucket code or hit add attachment in the upper right corner of this reply box. and your photos will come up from documents. and why do sellers always say that. ? why not just say, oh i do not have her papers just a copy as i never had them now i hope the original owner is alive. i got two great AQ 's that the owner passed away and i could not get his estate to sign them over to me. good luck did you google his name ?

Papers have been found and delivered. The original owner- who is still on the papers- has been very accommodating and has signed a transfer paper so all is well. The new mare has less training than H thought and the last owner told her that she loves being ridden in a field and running. So that's wonderful. A horse that hasn't even got the basics of bit work, has a crappy stop and no turn and still plays with the bit like a newbie was encouraged to run in a field as her first under saddle experiences. This young woman works for a reining trainer and has taken equine science and is now moving to California to work training in another barn. Perfect.

Sounds like this mare is going to need some training but worth the effort, so time and patience. so we need updates on the training.

She's a sweetheart of a horse and is already coming along and figuring out what a bit's about. She's smart and has try and eventually she'll be another Prince. H wanted to make sure she had the temperament more than anything else and she has that. She's a little reactive but that's getting better already, too. H will make noises or move quickly or roll a big ball or touch her with a pop up barrel or anything else she can think of and she does it at any time. She's doing a lot of ground work and desensitizing her and I can see a big difference already. H says she'll either go nuts from it all or learn to deal with it.
