I just wanted to show off one of my yearling fillies. she is a black and white with one blue eye. and her markings are almost even on the left as the right and from behind the white is on her legs almost identical. the white mane is just that. and of course her tail is the white with a little black mixed in. she is for sale. train her the way you want. she would look awesome in carriage classes.

Do you still have that cutie patootie? So how much weight can a pony or minihorse pull? How much can a "regular" horse pull for that matter?

I still have her. come get her. lol they pull more weight than you would imagine. a full size mini about 400 pounds or less can pull 2 adults in a easy entry cart easily. my mini stallion pulled a man 6 foot tall in a parade for 5 miles and did not break a sweat. and he is about 300 pounds.
a large horse about 4 times their weight. easily

I didn't realize they could pull so much!
What happened to the pony's tail in that last picture you posted? Maybe she's just swishing it and I can't see it.

I chuckled at the concept of a "full size mini", kind of scratched my head on that one Then of course, being me, I had to calculate how many 6 ft tall men make up 5 miles, 4,400 men or 88 foot pounds of work If that man weighed 200 lbs and the cart weighs 150 lbs, then a mini can pull a 1:1 ratio by weight. I gotta figure its the loss of leverage by height that limits the mini's capacity to pull. Sounds like a research project to me, too bad we don't have a "rolls eyes" icon

Some mini horses are like work horse and they can pull alot. they were originally used to pull coal out of the mines in south america and in the southern states where they were used as teams of 4. they would go in. have a snack get turned around. than out they would go. for years. they would work. finally with machinery they are not used for that. and now are companion or horses for kids and adults who just need a horse.

"... for <folks> who just need a horse", goes for all of us. They sure are sturdy little fellows. I remember reading about ponies pulling coal carts in England, seemed just as dismal for the horses as the men who work there. I wish all the people who have jobs which should be done by machines could get healthier jobs. I'm not against physical labor, I am against breathing coal dust and working underground. Just isn't right
