Maybe y'all could take lessons together? It might be fun and maybe the trainer could give a better rate?

Maybe y'all could take lessons together? It might be fun and maybe the trainer could give a better rate? My neighbor has 2 of her horses 'in full training' with this girl (my neighbor has 11 horses at last count). I'm actually looking more for riding instruction for myself,., and this trainers prices are slightly higher. I really want to continue working with an instructor 1 day a week (if possible), full training is 5-6 days per week of the trainer riding on your horse. I am finding that if I have someone coming out to work with me and Zippy 1x a week, I'm actually getting on and riding a few times a week, and its making me ride more often. Excited to meet her tomorrow and see my neighbor/childhood friend after so many years! smileys-flowers-548267

Another good thing,., she comes to me instead of me having to haul to her. That, I really like,.., its really a nice feeling to train on your own farm,., at least for me it is

Im really interested in learning more about how you lessen your horses frustration while he's learning.

Im really interested in learning more about how you lessen your horses frustration while he's learning. She just kept 'asking' until he put the definiant attitude aside. When he gave, she rewarded with a timed release of pressure, when he had 'tude', she corrected, and persisted until he stayed the way she wanted him to for awhile. Really liked her style a lot She made him more respectful, and did not give in to his 'tricks'. She knew exactly his ways of blowing off the request, corrected him until she got what she wanted. Then she gave him a break with verbal praise, and rest.

All great news, and sometimes change is a good thing. see a new face and new techniques and new ways to ask for better results. end result all are happy , especially Zippy It was actually 'forced change', BUT, I think its actually better. This trainer is older, and comes with a great resume too. The other trainer was younger, less trained 'professionally' and less stable in her life (youth). This new trainer is more 'accomplished' professionally. Its GREAT and I hope she stays around. Shes already picking up some clients that the other trainer is leaving behind I think the younger girl has very mixed feelings right now. She built up a business and shes now walking away from it, and the people who were supporting her. Tough choices.

Life changes are difficult to make even when you know its for a better fitting future. Trust me.
When I don't feel threatened I'm much better at that patient persistence in the proper position. I have SO much to gain before I can trust Peaches from her back. Seems like it will never happen. But you know it probably will take making a change in today to have a different tomorrow.
Just like the young trainer. She is young and has time on her side to find her what and where. Gotta let go in order to move on.
Icky as that is

Oh I support her moving,., onward and upward,.., But I could see her mixed feelings She actually is torn between her 'trick riding' gig, and training in dressage that she truly likes to do. She makes the majority of her money doing her trick riding act, and backs that up with a few training clients. Making money training horses, is hard work, no doubt 757724

She'll be fine. If she comes back the lady you have now will be busy enough that some people will still be looking for a trainer.
I like that she knows to keep asking and then give release as a reward. I'd say the biggest mistake I see trainers or anyone working with their own horse makes is to ask and not reward them when they try, even the tiniest bit in the beginning. They'll ask and ask again when the horse does it and ask again and again. I can see the horse getting frustrated with no reassurance that it's doing the right thing and still being bugged for the same thing. Some people get them to do something over and over and when the horse gets upset it gets punished. It's amazing more horses don't have issues.
