Sounds like there are some here that will know me as Sundancer Maiden. Understanding that it can be painful to name yourself after an animal, they don't live long enough, I picked something new. I'm 56 now and full time caregiver to my Mom. It's just the two humans here, with (technically) 1 horse and 5 ponies, 2 dogs and 14 cats. I think this was not a good time to do this. I donated blood late this afternoon and ended up coming too close to passing out. I'm recovering slowly. I knew the risk well, many times my iron is too low to begin with and a few times I have passed out in the process. It is interesting how the finger on one hand is too low, yet the finger on the other hand is perfectly fine. You know, getting that drop of blood to test the blood. The important part is that I got all the way through the donation before I lost it!! For that I am happy!! But I am very tired and need to do this tomorrow. I am simply happy to be here!

Welcome Sue. smileys-flowers-548267 I'm sure that you will enjoy our no drama forum. We have a good group of members so far. We are here to support each other in many ways. We started this to have a good time and share our horse information and some times wisdom. We hope that you post and not be a lurker type....Glad that you made it through your donation. I use to do it all the time. But haven't lately.

Welcome.... sun
The view here is very different than there...all adults and we can sometimes let it rip and let it out when the need arises without fear {usually!} of censure unless justified......
We are all friends here and when we need an ear or eye, a swift kick in the pants or a hug and pat on the shoulder that is available too. We are a tight group and what goes on here stays here...friends.
We vent, we scream, we rant and rave sometimes at each other about all kinds of things...we are all passionate in our feelings and that is OK cause you gotta let it out somehow. No offense is ever meant...just a venting spot. Something sadly lacking or even the ability to express anything there...
SO, THAT SAID.....
"WELCOME"....think you will like it here.
We also have some really cute and very mood fitting smile faces and emoticoms.... some I seem to use more than others as you will see....

Welcome aboard Horse Adventures from New York. and as hl4l and min has stated, this forum is not a place for taking things too serious. here we say it like it is, even bash the other forums. and some of the posters on there. and with code names. like the Whiner. lol you will figure that one out. soon enough. and the stagecoach station board can only be seen by approved members. so make yourself comfortable, catch up and post away. sorry to hear of your blood donation making you ill.

Sorry about that! Horsetopia was the very first horse site I joined (and only until now) and I love the name I gave my horse and figured I'd use it. CatChannel was the first cat site ever and I used the name of one of my cats, Cricket. Well, Cricket was diagnosed FIV + 5 years ago, this last year she went into full blown AIDS. I provided hospice as long as she had any quality, but letting go was really hard. I'm tearing up now, dammit. Now that username is a painful reminder. KsKatt is generic and will not ever come back to bite me. Sundancer Maiden is 23 this year, I hope she lives many more years, but you never know. KsKatt is safe, and sometimes safe is good.

Oh, I did forget, I was directed to "horse forum" also. I may have caused a bit of a fuss there. A woman asked about PMU mares, it seems she only just heard they were mistreated. The first few responders only talked about how good the program is, and the great foals. Some people did, finally speak up about the fact that there were serious problems and that it is good now. I couldn't help myself, I had to comment that I was sad about how her concerns were, initially dismissed. Her concerns may be outdated, but we should never forget the past, lest we end up repeating it. It did become a little heated.

Unfortunately, rocking the boat and having a different view or opinion there is not always met with favoritism. Just going against the tide of opinion, having a brain and using it with independent thinking doesn't seem to be to great an idea there either.
Here, we as adults all can and do voice our opinion, discuss, debate/argue at times. We though always show respect that someone else may and is entitled to their opinion and feelings on a subject.
What is great here is you can rail at someone or about something, and let it out and not be slapped by our admins or mod team... as long as you abide by the rules they leave you alone.
The " " & " " icons come in so handy... gets your point across with not so much chatter. You will see it done by me especially....but others here now are using those funny faces to get the point across too.
Best is our "funny faces" can and do change sometimes, some added some removed, but usually we have some for the upcoming holiday or time of the year to play with...and if we want something in particular we ask our mod/admin and they do a super job of trying to find it for us to use... I happen to use certain ones more than others.. like these... , , , , , toast, , sun, wag finger....well you got the picture. Something for near everything. LOVE IT...we have that one too!!

Do not feel bad about voicing your opinion. and causing a stir, isn't that what the constitution says we can do ?? and as hlf4 has stated this forum is a great place to discuss and bring out into the open any subject and it will get talked about. good bad, or indifferent. so welcome again and do not be afraid to speak your mind.

It's not just that the constitution says we can, how else do we learn and grow? I mean, it would be nice if learning and growth always came easily, but many times it doesn't. Sometimes a little heated debate is required.
