Was supposed to get shoes for Isis this afternoon but the shoes were too small, bummer, they were rubber ones, anyway she's coming back thursday hopefuly to fit steel ones instead, can't wait, need to get riding him again, hope he's ok to shoe, the trainer who screwed him up put fronts on him and I hate to think how, I am sure he would be tranqd as a fellow ht'er said he tranqd them for everything, anyway roll on Thursday.
Daxter has an abcess on his toe, small but I'd noticed him pointing that foot a few days ago, I looked but it was pretty deep and hidden.
Iras feet are pretty horrid, all splitting and chipped, he will be for shoes next I think on front too:(
isis is has very soft feet and feels every stone, I guess he would never pass a ppe!

Actually think I will get boots for Ira, for all the riding hubby will do shoes will be too expensive, I'll get them for Isis still, still can't believe how pricey, $130 for fronts only, wow!

Good luck today with the shoeing. I need to get the pictures of Mister's feet posted (but I don't have my cable here at work, will try this evening). I am thinking of getting boots for him too, otherwise it will be months before I could ride. And he was/is very ouchy on rocky areas. Luckily for me, the soundness check at the end of the CTRs I go on are usually on a grassy area otherwise he wouldn't pass either. It's not that he's lame, just ouchy.
(sorry to hijack your thread)

No hijack, only me rambling on anyway!
She's coming Monday now as weather is crap, if the renegades work good for Ira I think I'll get Isis some too as they will work out cheaper in the long run.

Supposed to rain all day Monday so she's coming tonight now!
Their feet are so dry, I slathered them with cornucrescine this morning, also gave them this supplement I paid a small fortune for, may as well use it, fingers crossed Isis behaves!

I'm curious about the rubber shows you were going to try. How long they last, things like that.

I'll let you know she used them on another horse to see how they perform, you can trim these ones too to shape better, I know some you cant which makes for a hard fit. He got his metal shoes tonight, he was pretty good, bit unsure of the smoke but she took her time and she knows him so he was ok, the only thing he didn't like was getting the nail heads pinched down, weird, usually it's when they go in!

I think shoes are necessary evil. I shoe my horses only if they are going to be on asphalt a lot.

Ugh,Isis lost a shoe, we have a couple real marshy spots they hang out in, it looks like it was sucked right off, no damage to hoof, hope she comes out fast to put another on as weathers good now!

I know, I can't find it anywhere, the marsh is knee deep so impossible to search, I had a look in some of the shallow spots but can't find anything, I was a little worried about that foot as the clenches had raised a little, he wasn't too keen on them being nipped so I think she didn't get that one as tight as the other, I think I will just get boots for Ira though as he spends half his life in there!
Hopefuly things dry up a bit soon, we have just had a lot of rain, usually it's not as bad as this:(
