I just got off the phone with Willstar Riding Academy in Bemidji and they're reserving three places for my three horses for 30 days of training!!!! www.willstarridingacademy.com/index.htmlThey're even having a promotion where it's $50 off, or $550/month. I know its a lot of money but I figured if I don't spend it, I'll never get to ride! So what is the value of money?! That and hopefully I won't be out of work in July . Sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith and go for it! So now I'm going to call Gerald and tell him that we gotta get the farrier out, test for Coggins (and test their noggins), get their vaccinations, pencil cases, note books and round-tipped scissors!!! EEeeeek!

Good for you!!! I hope that things work out. Also will you be included in the training? That after your horses are going good she gets you on them to teach you how to deal with each horse? So when will we get to see pics of you riding? You will have the best therapy in your life when you take that first trail ride!!!!!

Thanks you guys sun The rules are that I can come and visit anytime (which would be great if I actually lived nearby, gosh dang it) And that I get a discount on riding lessons Just talking to her for a little bit and reading their website and seeing how they express themselves and what they think is important seems like a good fit. Its too bad I don't have a permanent job somewhere so I could know where I was going to live and make plans. It has been like this for years and years and to tell you the truth IT STINKS UP THE ROOM! That's why I just gotta do this and figure it out as I go, if I don't jump it won't happen. And if worse comes to worse my horses will be trained well enough, sooner or later to sell. I hate that idea, they're good "people" and of course Peaches, the worst one of the bunch for trusting her not to freak out and buck like a demon is my favorite. But I think a lot of that is I spend more time working with her, because she will freak out and buck like a demon...

Well a good decision has been made for the horses to be worked for a few weeks. and that is good. and for you to find a place to live , i hope you do find what you are looking for. a piece of property with a barn and a big front porch for a few chairs to sit on when having coffee. all you have to do is plan for it. and photos and updates are needed on the training of these babies.

Oh Horselady, I have a place like that, its home, but my job isn't close to home so I have to rent during the week and if that's close enough, I go home on weekends. For a couple years my work took me to Washington DC so needless to say I didn't get home at all. I do my best to live as cheaply as possible so I can save my money for something like this.
The vet was over today to do the Coggins (said it was a waste of money but at least we have proof our horses don't have it) and the rest of it. Wednesday the farrier comes out. Sometime this week Gerald will bring the stock trailer into the pasture with the horses and put corn in it to get them accustomed to it. Gerald talked about "trapping them" No! I said we have to get them trained on how to get out too! You can't just trap them in there, drive somewhere and then let them burst out of there like a ripe watermelon hitting the pavement! Geez! :rolls eyes: (there my own "emoticon")

Oh, I agree, no trapping!!!! I'm glad you put your foot down on that one. Hopefully they'll figure out that the trailer is no big deal and you'll have no trouble getting them to the trainers. I can't wait to start hearing updates on how things are going with them once they get to the trainer. So exciting!!

Terry, thanks, its a first for me too! Well! Today the farrier was there and Gerald said it all went very well. Ziggy as usual was the best, just stood there, no muss, no fuss, unless her picking at his back pockets is a problem. Even Penny was good for all four feet. Typically Tim (the farrier) has to use a rope to get her backs but she lifted 'em up like she was supposed to do! I don't know if I helped with that but I asked her to lift her back feet the other weekend, didn't grab 'em at all, but touched each one and asked for the lift and son-of-a-gun she did! Not by much but still. I think its taken her this long to feel secure or something. So that's a big deal right there. Now Peaches is still claustrophobic and because we don't want to put our farrier in danger we will drug her. Sure its not the answer but you gotta do what you gotta do until you don't need to anymore. But she only had two issues, one was when he wanted to clean her "seedy toe", whether she still has it or not, she thinks she does. So Tim just stood back and let her calm down and it was okay. She did it again on one back foot and again, Tim lets her get over it and then goes back. Gerald said that Tim got done with Peaches before the medicine had really taken affect but I gotta figure it helped calm her somewhat. So Peaches is better too, that's wonderful. Maybe after her 30 days we won't need to drug her anymore?! Or 60 days So now the horses are all ready to go, the trailer is out in the pasture for them to get used to it. We're gettin' closer and closer! Now the only question is, where will I be living in 30 days? Hopefully still in MN.
