GRAIN?

I am searching for a way to feed a horse that i think has a low tolerance for carbs. seems when i start to up his grain and feed ration to bring up his weight, he starts to act foot sore and can not turn in a circle. he needs to walk forward and make a large circle or he will stumble and fall over. yes the vet was here and she found an abcess, than the farrier found one on the opposite front hoof. He is on bute therapy for discomfort. such a shame he is 14 and done with his riding career which was fantastic until he started to come up lame all the time.

I will have to check in the ones near me. hope that is his problem. and it can be fixed just as easy as switching his grain.

How about less grain, and more fiber, ie. hay cubes soaked, or beet pulp? Red has had those kind of problems for years. Maybe even a senior feed that is higher in fiber?

How is he doing? My vet just recommended the soaked beetpulp addition for my older boy. I'll be starting it next week.

I think the anitbotics might be working and i hand walked him yesterday outside in the grass. instead of keeping him in a dry lot round pen. and i decided to lunge him to het his blood flowing i will try the beetpulp that is a good idea. thanks
