Apparently this is a recipe from the southern states. I read about someone eating it recently in a book. I have no idea what it is. Can someone explain it to me and does anyone have any good recipes? The character in the book was talking about how delicious it is and I'm really curious!

That looks devine, especially for a nice party , and the sugar and sweetness, well perhaps just a small piece will do?

Thank you HL4L! It sounds really good and even has fruit in it so it's a health food, right? Cream cheese frosting, mmm! Hopefully soon I can stand long enough to make it.

I found there are many variations... so far I think I have had about 4 and yes, it was all at the same "tasting" of small pieces not hunks...could of eaten he hunks though it was so good. If I wasn't in company you know that plate licking comment...yup, I would of...delicious they were!!! blue ribbon
Do a search for "hummingbird " wait till you see what pops up and the choices and variations...

Oh...but a small piece will leave you wanting more and a bigger piece and a BIGGER piece and then a BIGGER and BIGGER piece...pretty soon that glass of milk, cup of tea or coffee and that is gone!! Self-control..I have none for this!!

I'm in a mood, so bear with me so I just have to point out the visual of the sentence, "I read about someone eating it recently in a book". How the person got in the book, I'm not completely certain, did they leave crumbs in the binding? The other thing is the first sentence, how we characterize folks from different regions. There are cliches for a reason. Anyway, these kind of things tickle me and i'm in a tickly frame of mind.
