LD I will PM you my vet's name. He is great. I think because we showed him how serious we are about our pet's health and wanting to learn as much as we can, he kind of appreciates that and helps us help our pets, if that makes sense. And since we've had runs of bad luck with several cats getting sick at once in the past, he's been great to work out deals/payment plans with us.
Winky has been doing pretty well the last few days! She's been more cuddly and purring more with me and is out and about more often. She's thrown up a couple of times, so we are going to stop giving her the treats to see if that was causing it, but other than that she's been great. Eating better, cuddling, hissing at Merlin - just like she used to!

I was in the kitchen making tea tonight and heard one of the cats batting a toy around. I assumed it was Minou as I had just seen her come into the kitchen. Well, surprise surprise! I turned around and it was Winky! She was batting that toy around like there was no tomorrow! Of course, as soon as she saw me watching, she ran away LOL It was so nice to see her playing!

She had a recheck today and the vet is pretty happy with how she's doing. They pulled blood to do the special test again, so we should have the results in a day or two. So, fingers crossed! She seems pretty happy though, which is all I want for her. When she stops enjoying life, we won't make her suffer, but she's playing and chasing her nemesis around and coming for cuddles, so she's still happy

Our babies bring us so much love and joy! When they get sick, injured or just plain old we feel so helpless. Treasure every second! You are taking such wonderful care of Winky! How old is she? I know it has nothing to do with her illness, I just wonder. I hope you have been able to share her life for as long as possible. You and Winky are in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks kskatt! We think Winky is about 14. We adopted her 10 years ago and they guessed her age at 3-4 years, so we've always just gone with the older age. It's been a good 10 years with her - she's always been a happy, loving kitty, but moreso in the last year or so. I think nursing her through her illness has made our bond much stronger. Here she is, chillin' at the vet today. Always the little lady, crossing her legs!

So, we got the bloodwork results on Monday, and she still has levels over 50! Our vet is stumped. She is showing absolutely no signs of being ill, other than occasionally throwing, maybe every other week or so. Our vet can't believe her numbers are so high and that a)she's not showing any symptoms, and b)she hasn't developed any illnesses pancreatic cats often develop (i.e. diabetes, fatty liver). He's going to call the internist again to go over things but short of opening her up to see exactly what state her pancreas is in, there's not much to be done. He said he's probably gonna do his clinical research on Winky and her illness, so that's kind of cool. So, bad news is her numbers are high, but good news is she's not showing any symptoms, is still happy and cuddly, and is still playing with toys and terrorizing Minou.

She is still doing really well! She had a couple of 'bad' days last week where she seemed a bit grumpy and ouchy and didn't eat all her food and wouldn't come out from under the bed. I think it had to do with lowering her steroid shot dosage, so once we did get her out, I gave her another shot to bring her back up to the old total, and we gave her the sub-q fluids. She turned around pretty quickly after the fluids and once the shot kicked in she was back to her normal self. So we're going to stick with the higher dose from now on :)
She has started this new thing where, in the morning, when she wants her breakfast, she comes on the bed and pokes my nose with her paw. Never in 10 years has she done this until last week. It is sooooo cute.

YAY! It sounds like you have things under control now. I love her new technique to wake you up. They can be so cute sometimes. I agree with Lipizzan - we need more Winky pics!
