Thought I'd share some pics of some of my fur babies :)
This is Marble. We got him and his brother Rye around December 2001. We lost Rye to kidney failure in January 2012, but Marble is doing well at about 12 years of age. You may have seen my thread on the other forum about his near death experience in January - he's recovered fully and doing great!
This is Luna. We got her in October 2002. She's our little Halloween kitty. She turned 11 last fall. She had a bout of pancreatitis last May, but seems to have recovered fully and has not had any relapses. She's half Siamese.
This is Winky. We got her 10 years ago this month. She's about 14 years old now. We also had her sister Tonks, who we lost to cancer in May 2012. Well, they said it was cancer, I still think it was a broken heart after Rye died, but that's a story for another thread. Winky was also diagnosed with pancreatitis last May, but unlike Luna, she's had recuring bouts of it every 3-4 months, requiring hospitalization of anywhere from 3-7 days. She's a trooper though. She also has sever hip dysplasia, so I'm looking forward to moving to the bungalow so there's no more stairs for her to deal with.
This is Merlin. He's the first cat we adopted after moving to Edmonton. He was adopted in the fall of 2012. After a rough start to the year (losing 4 cats in exactly 6 months) we were ready to add to our family again. He's about 3 1/2 years old. Here he is, dressing as a true Albertan!
This is Minou. We met her when we went to adopt Merlin, as she was in the cage next to her. She was meowing at us and reaching for us, but hubby said no. About 6 weeks after getting Merlin, we realized that the older cats couldn't keep up with his energy, so we decided to get him a younger friend, and went back for Minou. She may look sophisticated and graceful, but she's a little terror! She gets into and onto places she knows she shouldn't, constantly needing me to rescue her. She's pretty awesome though, and her and Merlin quickly became best friends. She's about 3 years old.
Finally, here's Sebastian. We got him about 11 months ago, after our first cat Crackerjack died suddenly in March of 2013 - bringing the total losses to 5 cats and my mare in 14 months. I felt like my heart had been shattered, and on a whim was looking through the rescue's facebook. They had just posted a picture of 4 cats they had who had been with them for quite some time. Sebastian had been there the longest - 8 months - and kept getting passed over. Well, that settled it - off went the adoption application, the next day we met him, and the day after brought him home. He's about 3 years old. He gets along with all the cats, but his best friend is Merlin - they are always wrestling each other. He is the biggest suck - always cuddling up with me and just giving me these looks - he'll just stare at me with this look full of love and he'll reach his little paw up and touch my face and I SWEAR he is trying to tell me "Thank you for saving me" I just wish I could tell him that it was HIM who rescued ME.
