I'm in another forum and met a lady that is from MO and has invited us to a trail ride the end of October. cool It's a horse camp and only 42 miles from us. We have to go back to VA and get Rawhide and if we can, we are going to go. I know Reno isn't really ready for anything to extreme. But just the chance to meet some new people will be great...The place is called Slabtown Trail Rides..in Plato, MO. We just may hop on the bike and ride over there and check it out. The web site has pics and they look like a good place to go. I need me some horse, woods, and some camp fire smells. I'm way past due for a camp out. It's been 2yrs since the LQ has been used for camping. It's time to rode-the-horseand smiley cowgirlup!! www.slabtowntrailrides.com/index.html

Sounds like fun... I've been in the Ozarks a few times for vacation with my family as a teen...it sure was pretty. Maybe it will be leaf peeping time still...now wouldn't that be spectacular!! The website shows a lovely place with so many nice amenities, best being nature... I second...don't forget the pictures, please...

Well you guys know that anytime I camp and ride, I always come home with pics. I'm hoping that we can go. But either way we will ride over there and check the place out. The lady I met has hooked up with me on FB and also another lady that is closer to me. So this chick has to call a farrier and get Reno some trail sneakers. Reno will hate life after being a pasture puff for so long..
The Ozarks are pretty and I can't wait to see it from horse back instead of the car. Will keep ya posted on it all... We are headed to Springfield today for Lint's drs. appointment. So I'm finally going to get to check out PFI Western store...Oh I can't wait to smell the leather!!!

Well we are trying to get that planned. Lint wants to also visit with his daughter and grand kids. So not really sure. I would like to hook up the LQ and leave tomorrow. So I can get back and meet some of these new riders. It's at least a 800 mile haul back to get Rawhide and then another 4 hrs to N.VA and MD. If I don't visit MD a few people will really be peed off. PFI is a nice store. They have 2, one is clothing etc and the other is tack. Way over priced!!! I saw a western print shit that I know I can get for less than 30$ they wanted 60$. But I can say I have been there..They had used saddles also and one I looked at they wanted like 700 for it and one fender was ripped and it looked like it wasn't taken care of. I saw a nice bridle and breast strap with bling on it and each piece was 219$. I though no way I'd put that on my horse. Heck I wouldn't spend that on me....

Yes I am!!! Even if I don't ride I'm going. After all the scrubbing on the LQ I have re-torn the tendons in my wrist. Right now I'm wearing my brace full time. Taking aleve to help with the swelling. I have a few weeks to go. So I'm taking it easy for now. If I can get my saddle on Reno I'm riding.. I will ride because I will make Lint throw the saddle up there. I have no health ins. So I have to baby it . But yes yes yes I will be in the saddleagain. rode-the-horse

Well we just came in from the campfire. Fired up the furnace in the LQ to knock the chill down.. Have the electric heater on now. So we are snug as a bug. Suppose to be 26 tonight. We have met a nice group of people. One couple from Wisconsin. Lint helped them all back their rigs in. he had a dodge with a Bison, a chevy w/a Lakota, and our rig. So they have him as the official backer upper... Horses are doing good even Rawhide. His only problem was he wouldn't back off the trailer. But he's small enough he could turn around without getting stuck. Plus I didn't need to be stuck in front of him... I can't up load pics pictures because I can't get a good signal. I will move the hot spot tomorrow and see if I can get a better connection..So that's my story so far. pumpkins But as soon as I can get a good connection I'll post a link for them... Tomorrow will be the big test for both horse's and riders.. So the saga will continue tomorrow.... saddle hoofprints

Well we did a 4 hr ride. saddleTook pics pictures but can't download them. Reno cut a little shine today. But nothing drastic. Rawhide was awesome. He did great for his first big group and there were about 20 in the group. He stepped over all logs went into the water and splashed. He was good with other horses around him. Was good when he was tied. He is turning out to be a nice little horse... blue ribbon Not feeling to sore either. But I took aleve before I rode and after.. Helped, my knees were starting to bother me but I knew that would happen.. Over all a good day. And a good group of people. We are riding to the pumpkin patch tomorrow. Haven't a clue....

Great to hear that the weekend was a success and Rawhide was a good boy for Lint. I bet you have plenty of pumpkins from the patch and looking forward to the photos. and a pat on Lint's back for being a good rider. saddle

I'm kinda late to this but gosh what great news! I love it that you had such a good time with people AND horses All over my "neighborhood" and beyond we have trails for horses, ATVs and such, don't even need to trailer to get there, but that's northern MN for ya. I don't know how long it'll take me to get to trust my horse and have my horse trust me enough to ride trails again when I can only ride once a week, but its sure worth working toward!
