i wanted to post this as part of my past friends on the other place that is no longer posting , i do not know if she is still around but this is an example of the writings she did while there, i think of her and her son often as they were both touched by the angels
peter john's love was her name and i am proud to have known her.
This is a tribute to the foal that died named Smudge from Barefoot Farms. So many of our babies, horses and other critters also have gone to heaven recently. This is why I wanted to write a story to show God's loving heart during our grief.....This is a fictional depiction to hopefully help us grieve our losses.
R.I.P. Smudge - may this story touch many - your time was tiny on earth, but love for you was huge
SMUDGE TRIBUTE
The angels sang with joy as the foal entered heaven. The Lord smiled at the sight of this colt. He kissed the foal and lead him through the pearly gates.
The Lord noticed one angel was not singing. He looked at the angel and asked, "Will you take this young one to his stall please?"
The angel was not happy.
"Is there a problem?" the Lord asked.
"Didn't you hear all the prayers for this one?" The angel looked at the foal. The colt was almost as white as . Then she saw the smudgy colored tail on the colt. "Looks like he was almost perfect."
"Almost?" the Lord questioned.
"I understand that you select DNA from the sire and select DNA from the dam and then you weave them into a unique pattern." The Lord nodded, as the angel continued. "Then you place this foal-to-be into the dam for it to grow and as minutes turn to days to months to almost a year, you grow it and direct the formation of the life." The Lord again nodded.
"This foal was born to the delight of many. They even hold what they call a "foal watch" for the birthing on these little ones." The angel's voice became mockingly snide as she then continued, "Then in spite of abundant prayers, the foal was born with a health problem and You let it die."
"His coming to heaven was in My plan, in My time"
She shook her head in disbelief. "Almost perfect."
The Lord spoke with a gentle voice, "This foal is perfect."
"Almost born pure white, like ...but look at this spot. That looks like a smudge."
The Lord smiled, "cute huh? They liked that so much they named him Smudge." He touched the foal's smudgy tail and added, "That is my finger print, from where I nudged him to be born"
"Well you should have washed your finger before you pushed him out of the womb." The angel then grumbled under her breath, "and you made him with health issues that took him too soon."
"Too soon?" The Lord looked directly at the angel and asked, "Do you think I could not have healed him, if that was my plan?"
"Of course you could."
"Do you think that if he had been born perfect as you see it, that I could not bring him home in the time I desired?"
"Of course you could" The angel then tried to make a point and added, "but these babies should not die. This foal was wanted. Many anxiously awaited the birth and there was delight and praise and singing at the life being born and then this colt that You created died." The angel shook her head in sorrow. "It was to soon."
"How many days does it take to be loved? to be desired? to be cherished?"
The angel had no answer.
"If a horse lives a long life is that better?"
"It at least has a life," the angel responded.
"So you think Bob who was born, worked endlessly and then was discarded, but was never loved had a better life? Do you think that herd of seven horses that arrived yesterday, staved to death, with sores all over their wasted bodies, with eyes pleading for help, for love, was that a better life? Do you think registration number 4978143 had a better life?"
"4978143? What was that horse's name?"
"I know the name, but the owners never did. They only knew about the money those bloodlines would bring when that number appeared on a paper." The Lord shook His head in sorrow at the thought of His own beloved ones returning to Him like this, those which He had also created, those who never had known love.
"I know that those horses did not have good lives on earth," the angel replied, "but to have a baby die is still not right."
"How many days is enough?" the Lord asked the angel.
She thought a moment and then said, "Well, about 10,000 days - that would be over 27 years." The angel was proud at the answer.
"Did you not hear the weeping for Lady and Thunder and Zack and....?" The angel stopped the Lord. She knew the many, many older horses that had recently come home. He then gently looked into the eyes of the angel. "For the people who loved these horses with a heart so full of compassion that their own breath seemed to leave them at the very thought of these horses coming home to heaven, their prayers and tears were just as intense for just another day to love their horses."
The angel started to understand.
The Lord touched her face gently and said, "My horses are created to be companions to My people. They are there to teach lessons that My people seem not to be able to understand, mostly to teach the lesson of My unfailing love." The angel nodded and then the Lord said, "Smudge stepped out of the womb to anticipated joy. That joy gave My very essence great delight. My reasons to bring him home are not for you to understand. You were created to sing praise. I know what I am doing."
The angel cried out the words, "But the overwhelming grief?"
"Grief shows that love has value. Intensity of grief is not measured by the minutes or days that love is there, but comes because love was there. I made life fragile and uncertain. That creates the very need to cherish every moment."
The Lord continued, "Smudge was loved every minute on earth. That is perfect. In this foal's weakness, My strength was needed. My LOVE was made perfect."
The Lord then said, "Grief is hard on a human soul. But, for a soul to not have grief is hard on Me, for that means the soul never accepted that gift of love."
The Lord reached out and wiped a tear from the cheek of the angel. The angel smiled. The Lord then almost jokingly said, "I should have washed my finger, I left a smudge there. Did you know I wanted to leave my mark there?"
The angel smiled for now she knew. She touched her cheek, "This smudge shows My Lord's love touched me."
She then looked lovingly at the foal and with a voice of praise she said, "I will lead him to his heavenly stall."
She went over and kissed the foal. The little foal named Smudge followed her. As if the words were like a song, her voice rejoiced as she spoke, "Come on cutie. Oh, Smudge you are going to love the stall the Lord prepared for you. You are next to a foal named "Its About Time " You will be great friends. We have lots of beloved foals here in heaven for you to play with. Oh and a mare named Silly said she will teach you how to be a good horse. She wanted a special job in heaven, so God is having her work with the foals. She has a funny name. The Lord says that names have meanings." The Angel then became serious. The foal listened to her. "I'll bet you know that you got your name Smudge because the Lord left His fingerprint on you. Oh you are such a cutie. Did you know that your story will touch hearts and it will leave a fingerprint of the Lord on those souls? Did you know that you are perfect? The Lord made you perfect indeed."
There was delight and praise and singing with this foal's coming home to heaven.
On earth, a foal named Smudge had died. The way that the sunlight filtered onto the grave had many believe they saw an angel bending down to kiss the foal as he was buried. There on the faces were tears. The way the sunlight filtered onto their cheeks, those tears looked surprisingly like heavenly fingerprints.
The Lord smiled, "perfect indeed."
