So I have a little extra money right now (sshhhh, I don't want to say that too loud as I am sure Murphy will come along).
Anyway, I was thinking I need to take a vacation by myself - no mom, no son, just me. But the big question is where to go and what to do! I would probably have to stay in the US and would probably have about 5-6 days. (I would go on a cruise in a heartbeat but to have a cabin by yourself is outrageously expensive).
So let me hear where you would go if you could go on a dream vacation. maybe

Ive always wanted to go to the Maldives, very expensive though and hard to get to! What is the flight time for turks and caicos for you? Its fast from miami, cheap to get to, very very beautiful and safe for a woman alone, you can snorkel from coral gardens beach and see turtles and everything! Lobster from iga is 20 bucks for a huge tail, look at VRBO for vacation rentals and negotiate the price

Well it depends on what you like to do. There are so many things to do here in the states. Maybe a bed and bath type place in the mountains. Here in MO Branson is a hot spot and they have vacation packages. It's a neat place. And I could come meet you!!! First though you have to think about what you have always wanted to do. Then go from there. I want to do a cattle drive and a Alaskan cruise before I can't do it..Get on the internet and view places with vacation packages...Shop around.... I lived in Puerto Rico for 3 yrs it's a pretty place . A lot of people I know back east go to Aruba a lot. St.Thomas in the virgin Islands is nice but pricey..There are also tour groups that you could go on.

Depends on the time of year. why not a cattle drive. or perhaps a scenic tour by train. so drive to the pick up point and go across country by rail with stops. on a dining car have great food. and a sleeper car. or go to disney world in florida or california might be less expensive to fly to florida from la.
or go to maryland and see redzip or min in missouri or me in new york lol

A trip in our nation... I love the National Parks and surrounding lands...
Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Acadia, Redwoods, parts of the US/Canada border are gorgeous...The Badlands, Arches...there are so many more places to see and go....Alaska and Hawaii are also on those lists of great places...every state has something so special to offer.
To go abroad...my dream has always been to see Vienna and Austria. I love the pictures I have seen. I want o see the "real" Spanish Riding School and to hike the mountains...
There is so much to see and do in this nation...I never get tired of the diverse nation we live in and the vast lands it covers...all a different beauty from sea to shining sea and north to south... I would be happy to spend many years here exploring my dreams....now to have the $$ to do so.

Croatia is actually on our list. We'll probably go back to Scotland first, cause I miss it so much, and Wales to see where Dad is from, then hopefully Croatia. Europe is awesome, can't wait to go back!

We were in Vienna long enough to see most of the city, and of course, the Spanish Riding School. Man, the stables they have there are beyond belief! Sadly, you weren't allowed to take pics in the barn or during the performance, but I got some of the riding arena and the courtyard that the stalls are built around. Chandelier above the arena Arena ceiling Arena decorations Perfect footing Courtyard

I'll put the stud on my list of things to see when we go! My hubby must get so annoyed with me - every time we're on vacation and I see a horse, I have to stop and take a hundred pictures! LOL

GREAT pics SL, very cool!! If I were taking a trip in the states, alone, it would DEFINITELY be a 'horsey' vacation. A few years back, I met Mingiz, gailfinney (& Ricky), and crittermom, at the Great American Trail Horse sale in Lexington, Va.,., Virginia Horse Park. It was really FUN to meet some HTers, the weekend just wasn't long enough Hubby and I stayed at a B&B in the town of Lexington, it was really fun! But, if I were just 'doing my own thing', I'd find some 'horsey ' venue, attend a clinic, something like that. Thats just me, but when hubby is along, I don't get to totally immerse myself in my sport. If I wanted to do something non horsey (LOL, altho, what would be the point in that), I'd pick a spot that had something to do with nature, most likely. I live in a resort town, so those kind of touristy attractions/atmospheres don't hold much appeal for me. Sometimes, I've gone off and taken a hair cutting/styling seminar in DC, or Baltimore, and put myself up in a very nice hotel for a weeknd I'm only a few hours from some of the bigger cities, so I like to stay somewhere that I feel more safe. Good luck, and keep us posted!
