I found this guy in a grocery parking lot this morning. Obviously belongs to someone. After checking in the store to see if he belonged to someone in there, I brought him to my vet who graciously will keep him for a few days. He was really sweet, I couldn't just leave him in the parking lot. I hope his owners find him. Feels good to do the right thing!

Aw, the poor little guy! Good for you for looking after him. Too many people will ignore things like that. I hope his owners get him soon.

I will call the vet this afternoon to see if the owners have shown up. If they don't in a few days, the vet's office will either adopt him out or send him to the no-kill shelter.

I called the office late yesterday - no one has shown up. I also drove around where I found him hoping to find "Lost" posters but there was only one for a lost cat. I am going to call the humane society and animal control to see if any one has called looking for him.

Aw, poor little guy. Shows that even purebred dogs can be abandoned. When I argue with people about not breeding because there are so many dogs without homes and they tell me that only mutts end up at rescues and they breed purebreds so they're okay it makes me sad.

Well, I called the humane society but no one has called there looking for you. I couldn't get in touch with animal control - will try them again today. I feel really bad for the poor pup but I am not much of a dog person.

You will grow on him, or should i say he will grow on you, i never like doxi's until i rescued one from the neighbors. they moved and left him tied to the porch, i was feeding him and a pit bull for them for weeks, they would come and go . finally when they moved away,(i found a home for the pit) they left the doxi because they had no room in the pick up truck with crappy furniture and the new puppy. after a couple of days, he just wormed his way into my heart with his short stubby legs and those ears dragging the ground, and he loved his blankets. so i hope this doxie is rescued. perhaps by you. after all he crossed your path for a reason.

I have a mini dachshund that comes to daycare and she's an absolute doll. I just love her. We had regular sized ones when i was growing up ans they were good dogs.

How sad that this poor little guy was apparently dumped. It just breaks my heart and I will never understand how someone can do that.

I can't understand it either Terry. I called both animal control and our humane society and no one has called there looking for this dog. I drove around where I found the dog but there were no missing dog signs. When I brought him to the vet on Saturday, they immediately put him on a "Lost animals" FB page for our country. I also checked craigslist and the newspaper classifieds yesterday with no luck.
i do believe this dog was dumped. I feel bad for the poor little guy but hopefully someone will adopt him soon.

Jeez just wrote up my whole reply and then it was gone before I could post it...
Anyway, he is a cutie. He doesn't look like he was neglected, he looks a good weight and all. Maybe some poor soul just couldn't afford to keep him anymore. But then why not find a home for him?
If no one claims him Horselady, and you want him, there are free volunteer dog transport services, just do a search online. Each volunteer takes the dog for a certain distance and hands them to the next person until you get them.

I would take him in a heart beat Doxie's are smart and very owner dedicated.. But sometimes dumb like Molly. She got stomped again by Rawhide..She is ok but sore..You would think she would learn...But she has to be with her people and we were all out there cleaning out from under the carport. So we could put a new bale in there...Sweet Pea is the smart one. She won't go out in the horse's field at all. Never a dull moment around here..

No real update. I called the vet's office to let them know that everything I had done to try to find the owners of the dog. They have done the same things. Oh, and they named him Mambo (as in Mardi Gras Mambo since Mardi Gras is Tuesday). They said they would wait another week for the owner to be found and then would neuter him, give him his vaccines and adopt him out.
Too bad I don't have the time to take a vacation to NY and bring him to you HL!
