I have done it and loved every minute of it. It was hard at times. But if I had to do it again I would. There is nothing like the freedom of being your own boss. If I couldn't do something I had friends that were willing to help me get it done.

Thanks:)
Thing is not only would I be choosing to live alone Id be choosing to live in a different province, Id know no one, no family close either, plus Id be on 100 acres, no experience of any farming lol!
One part of me is like yes, I can do this, it will be fun, there are neighbours within walking distance, Im sure I could short term employ someone to show me the ropes, I mean I have never planted or tended fruit and veg in my life!
Id also have to find a job, hopefuly Id have enough to get by till I find one.
Then I think what if im sick or injured, what will I do then, what if I die an old cat lady lol!
Then I think Ill miss him, hes all Ive known, we have had many good times, Ive lived for years hating certain things about him why now am I cracking up?
Ugh, any encouragement or advice for or against, any women out there doing something similar?

My husband and I have had two acreages and I don't think I'd want to do it alone. Sometimes you just really need physical strength. Not that I'd discourage it, I just don't know if it would be for me. I like having my husband to do the nasty stuff or stuff that needs to be done but it's minus 30 or whatever else I can't or don't want to do. Really, though, if I had the chance to move to 100 acres on my own I'd figure something out real fast and do it in a heartbeat.

Yes the physical stuff worries me, even pounding fence posts in after using a post auger isnt easy not with my back, I suppose you can hire people to do these things if you must.
The cold I dont think will bother me, I have to go out in it to work every day anyway, as long as you are dressed for it and take breaks its fine.
The place Ive fallen in love with, I just watched a walk through video, I still like the house, its small, open plan main floor heated by 4 cords wood a year, I really like the house, perfect size, hen house, couple barns, big enough but not set up for horses, one thing that has put me off is it only has 6 acres cleared, the rest is wooded with trails, perfect for riding, it also has 3 ponds, 1 stream fed, beautiful, but Id need more land cleared, not sure of costs involved in this, I assume Id have to get a huge digger to rip trees out by roots then its a year after that at least till it could be grazed on, Id need around 20 acres cleared at least, anyone know roughly the cost of that?.....then of course fenced!
My hormones were wonky last week this week Ive calmed down and am biding my time getting organised just incase, not ready yet, my minds all over.

I would imagine you can pay for services to get things done. as for the trees.l they might be worth something for a logger to come in and buy and pay you for them, just be sure they do not leave a mess. as for fencing. once the poles are in i can do fence. and with the proper help so can you. it is not easy for a women to do the farm work. way to heavy machines, and hay and just every day items. but if you are inclined to do it. than start out small. good luck and hope you make the right choice for you.

That's the kind of thing that would worry me about having a place by myself. If I can't do something I have to pay someone to do it. Our septic tank had an issue at one acreage and my husband actually went down in there and fixed it, I can't imagine what it would have cost to have someone else do it and there's no way I would have or even known what to do. And when the pump went in the well, same thing. A huge tree fell over across the drive by the fence, there was no way around it. He got out the chain saw and cut it all up.

Funnily enough Ive been trying to learn how to use a chainsaw for ages but hubby wont show me, Ive pulled well pumps myself and checked them and even replaced, I kinda know the basics, same with sceptic pump, I could pull it and check for issues, its more the heavy stuff and plumbing or if someone breaks in or tries to rape me! Guess I would need a gun too, just to be safe. HL, Good idead about the trees, yes im good with fencing once poles are in, maybe I could hire some students to pound poles!

I am very scared of talking to husband and asking for a divorce, he has no idea, hes talking about booking a vacation in fall, our future in general, how do I do this, he will be devesated and angry, I really dont know how to do it. I have had a sore stomach for a week now, pelvic pains too, wondering if its stress. Today I will phone lawyer and realtor, get my ducks in a row:)
