I'm tentatively looking for a new trail/parade partner and came across an ad for a bay mare that is an ex Big Lick horse. I was wondering if this would be something I should pass on or what it could potentially mean for the long-term soundness of this mare. She's only about 3 hours from me. batonrouge.craigslist.org/grd/d/denham-springs-bay-tw-mare/7048358834.html Thanks in advance for the advice!

The ad is no longer on the internet, as for big lick horses they are walking horses that are high stepping, the term big lick is the high knee action of the front legs. and if you go look at the horse look close at the lower legs near the coronet bands,, sometimes they use chaines on the horse legs to make them pick up the feet higher. good luck

I wound up not going for the horse. My gut feeling said that it was probably best to avoid that horse. Thank you for the reply though!
I actually went try a horse out today that I knew from a friend riding him in a parade and he is coming home sometime in the next couple of weeks!!!
