It has been a long time since many of us have visited the forum. FB has gotten tiresome and in some cases viscious. It has been nice for a couple of visits of just reading to get back with folks who are horse oriented. I know many of us have become more 'mature' and horses and dogs with us have been lost to illness or age. Many friends are probabhly down in their numbers of critters but their knowledge is still there. I hope they reappear to help. My herd has gone through some dynamic changes. Beau and Daniel (my trail and gymkhana boys) have crossed the ever present rainbow bridge. A friend in Anahouc,TX found a county confiscated mare at aucction and we shipped her to NH to replace the boys. HMMM that's proving to be a challenge. My daughter abandoned her two horses here at the farm so we continue to use and love on them. The winter was a real beast and spring is being a brat about showing up. Hope some other visitors, new and old find the time to catch up with more of us from 'Before'.

I am the ever present person on the forum,,, i see it and just try to keep things going.. welcome back and sorry to hear of your losses.. i too have had some cross over but with so many still needing care it kinda seems like they are still here in the shadows. yes life changes and times change.. and we get older so our knowledge is willing to be shared.. i did post about laminitis as a horse i sold to a lady many years ago had to be put down because of it. as for fb .. i just delete and unfollow some of the more horrid stuff and pass over the items that are annoying. . winter was horrible. and took all i could to just feed and make sure all the horses were ok.. and the rain and cold of spring.. well here we are april 30 and my pellet stove is cranking away... welcome back..

Winter was a bit tuff on a crippled up old man such as myself. Spring up until last week wasn't much better. Not much I can offer to contest riding and not real good at girl talk. I love my horses and if I would get to where I couldn't be with them I would not be a happy fellow. All of my mares are open this year. I have one older mare that will come up to me when I ask her to help me walk. I lay my hand on her back just behind the withers and she walks slow beside me out to where I feed her. When I go out in the lot she stands and looks at me until I ask her to help me walk. She always gets on my left side and stops. I set with blind Star while he eats. When he is finished I tell him to back up as I lightly push on his neck. Today he backed up without pressure farther than ever before. I then ask him to step up for a kiss and hug. After the hug he shakes with me. Some times he is reaching with his leg for a shake while getting his hug. This morning he wanted to rub his neck on my leg pushing to keep me from leaving. I hope I can got more videos of the horses this summer. I have five stallions in one lot and they get along real well. I do set with them while they eat the sweet feed to make sure they stay at there dishes until all are done eating. When one misbehaves I then set beside that one for a few time with my finger behind a halter strap talking to them all by name. I want to get a video of the larger team working in harness. When I get time to work them no one else has had time to be out with me to take pictures. Maybe the new camera on a tripod will work.
Mom's funeral was last Saturday and the lawyer said he would need to see me once or twice a week for a few months to settle the estate. Dixie has bad swelling of the legs and feet and has to have her feet up most of the day and is not able to do much on her feet. With four inhalation treatments a day her days are almost always totally inside. Just shy of being 80 and looking forward to working with horses past 90. Walkers and wheelchairs are tools of my trade not a handicap. All 16 of my horses lead beside a walker or wheelchair without a problem.
H L being a FB friend can vouch for me being highly opinionated.

I've been on the forum since the beginning but had to take a break. It got to be too much about personal stuff and not enough about horses. If I asked a question regarding my horse I'd get three responses always from the same people. Which I really appreciated but I was looking for more responses. I was actually thinking that some people maybe were even intimidated by the three people that always responded. It's fun to read about personal stuff as well but some got very ugly and too personal and this isn't a gossip forum. Then when I wanted to come back on I couldn't remember my password and was too last to figure it out.
So for anyone that remembers me, I still have cancer but I'm doing okay although it's been a hell of a roller coaster, we now have three horses as my daughter bought a second horse, I still miss having our own place and having the horses right there rather than boarding, Prince was diagnosed with Cushings last spring, and I'm not riding much at all because the cancer has caused some pretty nasty side effects while I'm on chemo including sepsis in September.

I'm still here. Glad to see some have decided to return. Life goes on for all of us....sometimes with bumps and holes but ride it out and enjoy what you discover at rainbows end.
For me....life goes on. Winter for us was a piece of compared to everyone else.... I don't envy any with the ongoing cold and that seems to not want to stop... Enjoying the warmth, sun filled days and still cooler nights we have. Rains have yet to start in earnest yet so riding is great this time of year.
Be nice to see some activity return here...been lonesome.

I have had a drastic life change. So I don't come on often. But I do pop in and update.
