Bella was born June first 2016. Yesterday she came in heat.
The electric fence charger died. I bought a new one evening before last at Rural King. When I came home for lunch yesterday I noticed the Bella had gotten out and was munching on dead grass and seemed unconcerned that I was out close to her. While I was mounting the new charger she started running up and down the fence line with the stud running with her on the other side with her tail arched. Before I was done she was backing up to the dead electric fence with the stud on the other side. Bella has always came to me any time I was in the lot with her but when I went to get her to put her back in she ran away. After getting the feed pail she did come up and I put her back in without a fight. I was lucky to be out and about when she took an interest in the stud.
With Bella under two years old and dead of winter this goes against my thoughts of them not coming into heat until they are older and never in the dead of winter.
This is the second Filly that came in heat this early. Bella's mother was in with a stud tor two years and was over four years old before she foal.
