Hey everyone! Just thought I would pop in, say hi and give you all a update. This summer has been pretty busy. We went to Banff, Alberta in July which was amazing albeit a bit smokey. But really it has been a extremely hot and smiley summer here in the PNW. Banff is gorgeous and I cannot wait to go back. In August we went to Northern California and Oregon. We spent a couple days in Crescent City, California, where the Pacific meets the Redwoods. It is one of my favorite places. We then headed up the coast and did some exploring on the coast. We ended the trip getting to see the Eclipse in Newport, Oregon. Other, then those trips I have been working and riding.
Two weeks ago I had the worst fall of my riding life. I have been riding for over 15 years. I was out on my Mustang, Bilbo Baggins with my friend and her green mare. It was such a normal ride, until it wasn't. Everything went from 0 to 60 in a split second. We headed out for a trail ride. It was a absolutely wonderful ride, the horses were doing fantastic and we were just having a ton of fun. The horses started a get a bit spooky as we started the loop back to the barn. We were headed up a hill when my friend’s horse spooked and slammed into Bilbo (Bilbo spooked as well). I ended up pinned between the two horses, before falling underneath them. Both horses ended up stepping in me as they were bolting. After a full workup in the ER I luckily escaped with bruises and abrasions. It was a total freak accident. Horses are flight animals and stuff like this happens. I am just glad we are all okay.
Yesterday, I went out for the first trail ride since the accident. I had ridden a handful of times since the accident at the barn. I was nervous and unsure. But my sweet gelding took care of me, even during the moments that I was nervous and unsure. It was so nice that be back out on the trail and we had a fantastic ride. Bilbo was a absolute super pony. I am so grateful for him.
Now for a few photos. I am having trouble getting my computer to upload so here are a couple from this summer.
