Love seeing those babies.. your spirit is amazing.. and how they follow you is so trusting of them and shows how much time you devote to them to make them gentle and wanting your companionship.

I have not been able to rock them morning and night as usual this year. I do still spend some time with them while the mare is eating grain. Star is the real challenge being blind. I call out his name every time I get close and let him smell my hand. At first he would jump away. The last couple days he is has began to come to smell my hand and lets my pet him. The last three feeding he has taken small amounts of sweet feed from my cupped hands. He resists any attempts to lead him. Until he learns the step up and walk commands I will keep him confined. He did show less resistance to the step up command last evening.

Anyone questioning the red gloves, they are because my skin on my hands have became so thin that when a rope or about anything rubs or bumps the backs of them more than a slight touch it removes patches of skin.

Try training him to a small dinner bell. and perhaps put one on him and mom.. i had a premie born blind and i used the bell he realized soon enough that meant mom was near or i was. only use one special bell for those two. and you or anyone that feeds so he will know.

Yes, I put a bell on he mom right away so Star could get used to the sound. This morning he found sweet feed in his dish without me directing him to it. After a few bites he came over and chewed on my pant leg.

Aww the pics are great Dickel. Love the dorsal on that one baby. As HL said the blind one will learn quickly. But still having the trust in you will help a lot. Animals adapt quicker than humans with their handicaps. I hear ya on the hand thing. If I bump mine they either bruise or it splits the skin. Eucerin skin calming cream helps. Sorry to see you using the chair. But Kudos for doing what you love. You might have to upgrade to tracks in the wet season.
