When we saw Fashar Raffi and her colt , Shar casure sham some 30 odd years ago.. she just swished her tail in my face and walked over to hubby and put her nose on his shoulder.. sold.. made an offer and we brought home this arrogant spitfire of an arabian and her colt.. Bombay we named him and hubby called her Vanity.
She was always a spitfire. determined to please hubby and looked at my feet and would step on them.. or swished her tail in my face for no reason. She was a great arabian mare and came from a long line of wonderful arabians. her son has babies that are still in my pasture.. smart. handsome. easy to work with and around.
She became a lawn ornament. keeping a boarder happy and company.
Time marches on,, her son had to be put down 6 years ago at 23 years old. gone is that legacy and my best friend. heart horse. gone but lives on in my heart and his offspring.
Vanity is getting older. time is kind.. she eats alot and roams the land she was on for 30 years. we have had to help her up a few times. the look of fight and life in her eye.
Two weeks ago i helped her into the barn. i noticed she could not see. so the barn was her home. feeding her several times a day. all her favorite foods.. apple turnovers. donuts.. bread. june 27 picked her up again.. i saw the look of defeat in her eye, i encouraged her again. to stay with us and not give up.. today june 30 i saw she was down again and the look in her eye was the look of total defeat.. she wanted to go home to be with her son and her pals from long ago.
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we said our last goodbyes.. i told her to say hi to Bombay for me.. she tried to get up and i told her it was ok..to rest. and be at peace. the vet came and eased her Over the Bridge..
rest easy old girl and run with your son and daisy and burt and diamond. and willow and jaspur and dallas. and zeus.. and so many others.
bye my love
