So I read that blue is not as harmful as some whitening shampoos and other products and is effective to get those hard yellow stains. Basically what it does it dissolves organic color and make it white(that is why it works with pee and manure). Unfortunately it is not anymore made in my country so I have to ind a way to get it eheh. read also about potassium pergamanat, not sure is it the same thing, but my mom said our gramma use to buy it in pharmacy and whiten the laundry with it, because she did not wanted to use chemical for baby diapers. opinions?

I always used Quick Silver on mine. Really brings out the white and stains... Doesn't turn them purple..lol But since you can't get it I saw this natural whitening shampoo
Things You'll Need
22 ounces liquid dish detergent (Ivory or Dove brands)
2 ounces glycerin
2 cups white vinegar
1 gallon container (empty)
Wooden spoon
Shampoo bottle (empty)
Add 22 ounces of Ivory or Dove dish detergent, 2 ounces of glycerin and 2 cups of white vinegar together into a 1 gallon container. You can get glycerin at any drug or health food store. Add enough water to the mixture to fill the 1-gallon container. Use the wooden spoon to stir until your shampoo is thoroughly mixed. Fill an empty shampoo bottle with your homemade whitening shampoo. Seal the 1 gallon container, and store it in a dry location until you need to refill your shampoo bottle. Use the whitening shampoo as you would any other shampoo, although you will likely not need to use it every day.
Dawn dish soap is also a good shampoo..

I don't understand, when I wash Slavko for example, his yellow stains go down so easily. Yet Gaetana's are not budging. I washed with hot water, left the "shampoo" to soak, done it twice, rinse with hot water again. Used vinegar, rubbed and rubbed, but nothing, now that she is white and clean her yellow stains look even brighter. I will loose my mind :/

Because it is around her tail, I think HL is right. It is probably urine and/or from her heat cycles. It may take several washings to get it completely clean. Since her spring coat is coming in, keep up the washings and hopefully the new hair will come in white. :-)

A lady I talked to once said she used the shampoos elderly ladies used to keep their hair white on her palomino whose tail was always stained and it worked. I've never tried it myself though.
We have a grey mare who is all white and she's a nightmare to keep clean. I'm grateful she has dark skin, but that coat of hers is a pain to get clean. She's full of mud stains right now and it doesn't pay to bathe her until the mud dries up in the pasture, so I feel your pain with Gaetana! They're gorgeous when clean, but so very hard to get and keep that way!

Lip, I assume you use straw in the stalls as bedding. Is there any way for you to get wood shavings? That would soak the pee up better than straw and might help with keeping her cleaner. Just be careful what kind of wood they are from (some can cause hoof problems).

We use straw because we have our own straw and hay, shaving is hard to get, and the amount I need is to much of a expense. Not that nicer weather is coming hair will get shorter and easier to clean. For the next winter I will figure something out. Thanks for advice.

I thought it might not be feasible for you. But yes, the shorter hair and warmer temperatures will make things easier soon.

If the urine stain is on her tail.. perhaps trying to wrap just the upper part of her tail.. you know like a braid and only go 1/2 way so she still has the ability to swat .. i wonder if using a hair dye .. perhaps cut some off the bottom and experiement with different dyes that do not damage or make the hair a totally weird color.
