It seems like participation in the photo contests is not what it has been in the past. So I would like to hear everyone's opinions about continuing in 2017. I am perfectly happy to keep organizing it, just want to make sure people still want to keep doing it.

I would like to do it still. I try to put at least one photo every time. My suggestion is to restrict it only to one photo per category, I think it is fair that way. Just my opinion.

Even though I don't have horses anymore. I would still like to do it.

I would still like to do this.... I enjoy "peaking" into others lives and seeing what their experiences in life are.
I have been having difficulty with posting lately any photos.... My scanner does not talk to my computer and many of my submissions I would share are not digital, but "old"....
As for not having horses ming.... wag finger You are still as "connected" with us and our horses whether you have one, ten, a hundred or currently horseless!!
The one photo per category is a interesting idea...something to look into.

I think i could continue... at least it is something that everyone can participate in... we just need to nudge people to come on like i did for the card exchange.. on fb.. make people aware of our having a forum.. and i like putting in photos... and seeing what everyone else has..

I like the photo contest, it gives a little peek into our lives and interests. November and December are pretty busy months, so I think that contributes to the lack of participation. At least on my part it does. Personally, I'd like to encourage participation by continuing unlimited submissions per category, that's just my opinion. I really do enjoy seeing the multiple pictures people add. One thought I have is to maybe not have "winners". I could make a collage of all the photos submitted for the month at the top of the page instead? Just throwing the idea out there... This way the person in charge of the month just has to come up with the categories.

I like that too Val...To me there are no winners or losers.... We all share a piece of our-self by sharing our photos with each other. It was so hard to "pick" a winner when I did the contest some time ago...

I would still like to do it. I know I haven't been on here much lately, and I didn't participate in the photo contests for the past couple of months (I've been dealing with a lot of problems in my personal life lately), but I do enjoy participating in the photo contests when I feel that I have something to contribute, and I enjoy seeing everyone else's contributions as well.
I agree with Val on continuing to allow unlimited submissions for each category, and I also like Val's idea of not choosing "winners", but rather just contributing to the categories for the month. (It's always so hard to choose a winner, because all the pictures are great!)

So great to hear from so many of you. I will go ahead and start a post asking for volunteers for judges.
In the meantime, let's discuss further Val's idea of not having winners as well as whether you would like to allow unlimited pics per person or limit the number of pics a person can submit.

Being basically all the photos won last month, I experimented with a collage type banner across the top of the page. You should see it above. It's no harder to do than before, and chances are, I'll probably get better at not blocking faces I can continue doing it this way if everyone wants.

The software can adjust to however many photos I put on there. So if I had 30 photos they would just be smaller in size but would all fit. From a storage standpoint, the program outputs 1 picture - the collage - this one was only 43kb which is stored on my dropbox account, so it doesn't affect the proboards limits. Probably more info than you wanted to know, lol mini-graphics-smileys-801959

Sorry I dropped the ball on this. I will start a thread to ask for monthly coordinators. Let's try Val's idea of not having winners but just having everyone sharing their photos for a category that month's coordinator picks.
